1 week car rental in Orlando in April

Doh! You're right...it's not a hybrid. I didn't look closely enough and wrongly assumed that it was a hybrid.

Oh well... the rate is still pretty good, and at least we'll have a bigger trunk than in the TCH.

Since my original post, I did go ahead and reserve a mid size SUV (equinox). Total cost for the week including all fees etc is $192 USD. From National it was going to be $283.

One thing I found funny was the reservation process didn't ask for credit card. So I called the 1-800 number and confirmed the process and reservation, and they said they don't need the CC until I get the car.

I have a couple months before I actually go, so I will keep my eye out for deals, but I don't think I would get much better than this.

You are right to keep "your eye out" for a better deal between now and the time you actually need the rental...When going to Hawaii in the summer of 2006, I got so many different quotes for rental vehicles for the same agency...that's the beauty of no credit card required reservations...you can cancel at any time and take the better deal...although, your deal sounds like a great find. Have fun!

We're going down to Orlando this spring, and I've got a reservation with Hertz for a Camry Hybrid for US$249/week base rate. (It's actually $277/week, but I got 10% off with a CDP code from Southwest Airlines.) Not only is the rental rate relatively low, but we'll save on gas too.

The rates will probably be different for your dates, but it's worth checking out.

Did you order from a hertz at MCO or was it another location in Orlando? I've been looking but I'm getting average prices of $479 a week.

Yes, from MCO. I guess I got it at a good time, because rates are higher now than they were two weeks ago when I booked it.

darn. I've been leaving things to last minute as this is the first time I've taken a flight in a long long time. Forgot how it works so I've overpaid on a lot of things. Also the week I'm going Feb 16-21 appears to be a rather expensive week to go.

Check out Hotwire.com for the car rental...rates are a lot cheaper on there.

+1 I would highly recommend Priceline. Last January I got a week rental (full size) in Orlando for $117 US (all taxes in).

Hi,
I rented a car through hotwire. It was a good price.
At the airport, they let you choose any car in your category.
Beware that they will say that online "doesn't" cover the NEW airport taxes that were introduce many months ago. This was bull. I had a receipt that clearly stated that the price included all taxes and service charges. I was arguing with them and I paid it because I didn't want to miss my flight back. they were wrong and they were supposed to reverse the extra "tax charge" that was done in error. Ensure you have your papers so you don't get overcharged!
