1080p Tv out using PC
I have an older yet powerful video card, i know it supports resolutions up to 2048x1536.
However when I go into display settings>adapter>list all modes
it does not show me anything over 1680*1050. is this because of the limitations of my monitor? i thought `list all modes` showed all resolutions supported by the video card.
should i be able to get 1080p resolution when i plug in a tv that supports it?
thanks

Yeah it will work, but the EDID and/or VESA DDC data from your desktop LCD likely limits the resolution to 1680x1050 when its connected. If you wire it to your TV, the 1920x1080 mode should be visible and usable.
I'd be astonished if there was a video card build 2003/2004-onwards which didn't support 1080p output on its VGA. 99% guaranteed that it will work and you'd be just, at best, fighting a software issue.
