141 dead in california from heat wave
and yet not signs of "war on global-warming"...
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WEATHER/07/2....ap/index.html
FRESNO, California (AP) -- Children and their parents filled the playground and soccer fields at Radio Park, relieved they could finally venture outside after a nearly two-week heat wave blamed for as many as 141 deaths.

10,000 died in France a couple years ago due to the heat wave then. Mostly seniors and pensioners. Older people are particularily susceptible to heat, and many of the seniors who died didn't even open their windows. In France or in California.

Aug 1st, 2006 08:17 PM #7That commentary is extremely poorly written. Many of the points are purely the author's opinion with no way to back them up. Point #10 is the author's "big finale" but is actually the most damning to his credibility. The most recent reference is from 1998 - hardly a recent document in terms of the scientific developments in climate change. What's more is that none of the referenced studies actually debunk climate change per se - they are mostly calls for more research to be done before a conclusion is made. Well, more research has been done now and the overwhelming majority of scientists are looking at greenhouse gases being the main reason for increasing global temperatures. There is in fact little debate at all about increasing global temperatures. The only debating being done (mostly by those with a hidden agenda) is whether increasing global temperatures are being caused by human activity.

Aug 1st, 2006 08:24 PM #8i suppose you'll need to explain to him what a peer-reviewed scientific article means, because the people who are in denial about global warming sure can't tell peer-reviewed scientific articles from opinion pieces

Once we see the full effects of Global Warming so that even conservatives can't deny it's existance will they then be held to account for those who have died as a result of their action?
