I am trying to decide on an LCD and would like some input. I want 19" - 23" at the very largest. I would prefer one that is sold at BBY/FS so that I can see/view it before I purchase and also so that if I decide its not what I want I will be able to return within 2weeks. Any input is greatly appreciated. The above models are ones that I am thinking about currently. Leaning towards 930b as it seems to be the best bang for the buck... Viewsonic is 5ms response time but I dont know much about viewsonic as a brand. Any input would be great!

930B is nice but has a backlight bleeding issue.

Viewsonic VX924 is very nice but dont' believe the 4ms rating in its entirety. Very clean looking monitor though, and nice images.

When dealing with 19" or bigger LCDs most of them are not for gaming. The only ones I've seen reviewed that are really considered acceptable are built with LG.Philips SIPS panels. This includes the Dell 19" and the 20" widescreen as well as the HP 23", but not the Dell 24".

The important things to consider when buying an LCD are:
-Panel type
-8bit color
-Low response time
-Dead pixel return policy

Sharp makes the best LCD TVs (if I'm not mistaken) so I'm guessing their LCD monitors should be one of the best also. Don't know about LG though. Anyhow, I love my Sony LCD, HS94P, great quality with no dead pixels/backlight leakage. The new models are the HS95P. However, if your budget is limitless, might I suggest the 23" Sony SDM-P234/B.

But, the Viewsonic VP191B seems to be a very good monitor that should be considered.

I would get a Samsung 913T as it's cheaper than the 193P+.

I like both of these models cause of wide viewing angles of 178/178 degrees.

I woud suggest getting the Viewsonic VP191B. It's one of the only ones with a TRUE 8ms response time. The 4ms LCD panels are a marketing gimick when you read the reviews CAREFULLY. Check out this link for the VP191B review.

I've owned a BenQ 20" LCD from Best Buy that was rated for 16ms, but found it to ghost in games. HL2 and BF : DC were a prime example (BF2 wasn't out then). Get something under 12ms or 8ms, like this one.

Keep in mind there are only a handful of panel manufacturers. For example, the Dell 20" widescreen and the Apple 20" widescreen use the same SIPS panel made by LG.Philips. Apple sticks it in a white housing and charges twice as much, but they are the same monitor except for the backlight and the inputs available.

Was I writing a monitor review? No. Was I pointing out that you should ignore the sticker on the casing when you go shopping for an LCD? Yes.

Actually, I've had it for some time now and I'm fine with it. I don't game with it much so its really no big deal. Its great watching dvds/movies and tv also. Overall a good LCD for the price/value.

I would consider buying another one when the old CRT goes on the other machine.

How about LG L1980Q.... How do I find out if it is using a SIPS panel?

Philips 190S6F seems like a pretty good monitor. They're around $360 and have an 8ms response time, but the problem is that they're analog only.
