I am priviledged to start the 1st Official Skylanders Spotting Thread. The demand for this product has been so high during the holidays I am very surprised why there has been little talk about this product on RFD. Skylanders has already or will soon revolutionize the toy/gaming trend. To kick this thread off in the right direction, EB Games is offering the Start Up package for only $49.99 which is almost 30% off. Combined with Elkwood's promocode save another $5 to make it $44.99
Thanks Elkwood for bringing that info to this Thread!

If you are in the GTA, and have been looking for this, you will know that this has been Out of Stock for many weeks, EVERYWHERE. When you ask an employee if they have Skylanders in stock, they roll their eyes and give you the bad news.
If you live in GTA, they currently have stock of the PS3 and Wii version at the EB Games in Dufferin Mall as of 4pm, but sadly no individual figures.
If you want the individual figures, they have a few left at the EB Games on Bloor Street + Bathurst. They released new stock at 4:30pm and after my purchases, there are 7 left and a Wii and PS3 Starter package left. I took a picture of what's left here:

I am hoping other Skylanders fans will post Skylanders deals and available stock on this thread.
Enjoy!

I was lucky to find a 3 pack and Zap at a SDM the other day (last box of each).
But drove to MTL today and stopped by the TRU, FS and BB in Belleville and Kingston and all sold out so I don't think it's just the GTA that doesn't have Skylanders in stock.Last edited by 7-Endless; Jan 6th, 2012 at 09:30 PM.

I don't think SkYLANDERS will revolutionize the toy/gaming industry.
Yes it's a hot ticket item and some of the rare characters go for high price on EBAY but this is a very expensive toy/game that most parents can't afford.
It ONLY sold out because of the Christmas season and it peaked many toy collector's interest hope to re-sell them for more money. They need to drop the price of the starters kit to $39.99 in order to make this successful otherwise by summer it's done.
Most kids would rather play MW3/BF3 than Skylanders, especially if their parents are not buying anymore figures._______________

I was actually thinking that Marvel could probably do something like this. I could just see the Marvel Alliance title using a similar setup where you could buy the various Marvel character figures to play - it is much more fun to get a figure than pay for a DLC character.
Could probably even take it one step further and have a portal device that is compatible with multiple games/characters as well...then parents would be more likely to poney up for the hardware if they knew it would work for other games and not just the one title.

Off-top for a moment, does anyone remember the MARVEL Legends hoarders that bought all the rare figures only to sit on them and now have dropped in price. I think that's what will happen with this toy line. Hoarders will buy and expect to sell at big money only to end up with them month's later and re-selling them at cost.
Back to your argument

I'm too lazy and tired to google what these are. Heck I thought it was for the skyland the Chinese grocery store. Any one wanna summarize what it is and why it's so 'popular' in less than 50 words please?
