2.4ghz v.s 5.8ghz - Panasonic cordless

Staples currently has a 2.4ghz expandable Pansonic cordless set on sale for $70 and i've heard good things about the phone, however, how do the 2.4 compare to the 5.8ghz, besides the cost being 2x more?

I currently have a Uniden 5.8ghz expandable set from costco which I like, however, there are some features that are missing which this Panasonic phone has and I'm concerned about the downgrade from 5.8 to 2.4ghz.

I tested the distance and they seem to be on par with one another. They both cut out at about the same range. I do not have wireless router, mines wired, so I wouldn't really have any problems. I do live in a apartment building and there are several people who have wireless routers and internet connections.

Any comments regarding the difference in range?

I'm not familiar as to whether the ranges are different but I would definitely go with the 5.8 if you're living in an apartment. So many devices give off signals in the 2.4 spectrum these days that they can interfere with each other. Even microwaves often give off signals in this spectrum. Get the 5.8 and you will probably save yourself a lot of hassle.

Other thing to note is that higher frequency generally means better battery life.

Yes I have a Panny 5.8 as well and I can't complain.

all you need to know (that is if you're looking at panasonic), is that there is not much difference from the 2.4 and 5.8 models. As long as the 2.8 has FHSS, which most if not all pana 2.4 models have, there will not be any signal interference. Range is basically the same. I settled on a 2.4 which works like a charm. I also have a wireless router and wireless speakers within a 20ft range
