I bought some CFL from costco before.
15 watts like the other posts mention.
The package they are giving out is on the shelf at Laird HD for $7.98. Better deals with more volume though - $9.98 for 3, $15 for 6.

I'm going to the Yorkdale location this weekend!
if every household in toronto used 2 of these bulbs, it'd cut down the energy usage to that of Stratford or Orillia!
http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/s...os_brightideas
Now imagine if Stratford or Orillia all used these! lol
too bad the government cannot instate a 5 year plan to eliminate all regular bulbs..

So what do you guys do with light fixtures that are inclosed?

I know it's not recommended that you enclose a CFL, but does it really get that much hotter than a regular light bulb?

I have CFLs in all of my enclosures that look like this one. No problems whatsoever and even the guy at Home Depot told me when I bought the light fixtures that it was ok to use the CFLs. Hell, if you can use two 60W bulbs in those enclosures, and we know how hot that would get, two 15W CFLs would generate next to nothing in heat. One thing that I have noticed is that if you have bulbs in them for a while and then you open up the light fixture, there's a weird smell for a bit.
One other little issue I have is that you can't fit (at least in mine) 25W CFLs to give a light output of 100W. They're just a little too big to fit in mine.

P.S. If anyone knows where I can get dimmable CFLs I would forever be greatful as I've got a chandelier that needs a dimmer and is currently running with 5 60W bulbs!

Yah I wasn't sure and didn't want to risk it, because the ones I got from Ikea long time ago they had a warning on it saying "do not use in enclosers, dimmers, humid, and outdoor areas"
I've notice that the Philip only say "do not use with timers and dimmers".... maybe even outdoor but I don't remember.

2 people in line in front of me were turned down for already picking up the bulbs earlier...or that someone else with their address had already picked up the bulbs.. hmmmm.
