Hey guys,
I tried searching for some help on this but couldn't find anything really. I have some relatives coming from England and we are thinking about a cruise. The problem is that they are coming for just a week, and so we can't really go on 1 week cruises, or even 4 nights (have some other obligations to attend in Canada).
So I was wondering if cruises for 2 nights even exist? Any sites/locations/agents people recommend? I am a student, so cost is definitely a concern, so what kind of prices can I expect and what kind of cruise locations are available (for 2 nights)?
I've never been on a cruise before so sorry if anything above seems ignorant. Any advice/help on cruises is appreciated.
Thanks,
risktaker

risktaker, here's your problem - a cruise will either depart in NYC or Miami for the main ones - You'll get some that might go around eastern Canada etc but they will be long. If you're talking about Toronto, then there won't be any of the big cruise ships here because it's a Great Lake, not an ocean (i.e. it would take for ever to get out the st. lawrence to anywhere interesting)
You could do a day or night cruise of the Toronto harbor, but I doubt they have overnight cruises that aren't little tiny charter boats.
If you specify a departure point we can help you more - if you're going from Miami there is lots of 2 day cruises to the Bahamas (leave early AM, get back late PM the next day, one day in a hotel there). They are usually a couple hundred bucks so easy on the wallet, but of course you have to get to Miami.
If they want a dinner / lunch cruise in Toronto harbour, look on group deals as they come up often. The ones I've been on were fairly boring and grimey though._______________

Look up "cruise to nowhere"
I know that carnival has a cruise out to the middle of the ocean then comes back, 2 days if i am not mistake. But again, they are all departing from Miami or NYC_______________

Heh. I don't think they actually go out "to the middle of the ocean". I don't know the actual distance they travel, but more or less they go out just far enough so they can open up the casino and the duty free shops. Then they just go in slow circles, killing time, dodging rain, while using as little fuel as possible.

Thanks for all the replies guys, very useful. Seems like it's very difficult to find what I'm looking for. If I am departing from NY, what kind of packages are available? And do packages usually include the airplane tickets?

Are you sure you want to do that to your relatives?
I say this because they are only going to be in North America one week. Chances are quite good that they will be jetlagged. You will spend a 2 days getting to and from the cruise. And then the cruise would be to nowhere???
Surely there is something that is less taxing and more interesting closer by.
Just saying...

I thought the same thing. The op said "7 days and OTHER family obligations", so yeah, even a cruise to nowhere isn't a very good option, if you ask me. You'll just run them ragged.
To the OP> How about a Thousand Island Cruise? You could run them to Kingston for a couple days. Old Fort Henry I'm almost certain has some decent War of 1812 stuff going on that some merry old Englanders might be interested in (it's their history too, after all). The Thousand Islands themselves is a beautiful area, which I'm sure your visitors have heard of and would most likely be interested in. There's a few different riverboats that do a cruise, from as short as a couple hours to an all day affair. I'm thinking there might even be an overnighter too. They leave right from downtown Kingston, which itself is a nice area.
Just food for thought.Last edited by Paulfistinyourface; Jul 31st, 2012 at 09:34 AM.

The cost of two-night Bahamas cruises from West Palm Beach has been slashed to US$79 per person. This is the lowest price we've ever seen on this cruise and cuts regular prices by more than 50%.
This Celebration Cruise Line deal is available for sailings to Grand Bahamas Aug. 21 - Nov. 1. Weekend sailings are just
US$10 more.
