to answer your first question, yes it is possible. I was in a similar situation and I was a G2 driver with my secondary driver being a G driver.
As to the second one, if you have to pay a fine that means you are convicted and if they only reduce fine by 20 dollar i think most likely if originally points was deducted, they are still deducted. Go google and see how much points u should get taken off for your particular speeding offense.
Usually if you start your insurance policy lets say in september and you were convicted of the ticket in december, your insurance company will only find out about it next year in september when your policy comes up for renewal. Depending on your insurance company, they might just forgive you for it or affect your premium by a bit. However if your current company is too expensive , please shop around. You will be surprise.
I have one 50/50 accident and one minor conviction ticket on my record. Even though its minor and 0 points, it still count as a conviction and therefore it affects my insurance. I shop around for insurance and most companies were quoting me at least 4500-6000 and 4500 came from my current moleche monnex. Luckily after much help from fellow RFDers here and a lot of calling and shopping around, i found a cheap reputable insurance company that is willing to insure me for just 2800 a year. This is my 2nd chance. I am a 22 year old young driver and I am a male.
Not good so be careful when you drive, I drive like a mouse now. No unnecessary speeding, always on slow lane and never on fast lane anymore and just being careful. A ticket is just not worth it at my age.

2 Quick insurance questions !!!
Hi guys
i have 2 insurance questions, hope i'll find an answer
1... is this possible tht a driver who has G2 and never had any insurance can sign-up for a new insurance and be the primary driver while a driver in the same house with G and previous insurance record be the secondary driver in the same insurance.
2... when a peson pleads not guilty to driving at 72km/hr in a 50km/hr zone and the cop shows up and the judge finds him guilty and reduces the fine by just 20 bucks, will the points be still deducted ? when does the insurance company contact u if something like this happens ? is driver's abstract the only way to find out about points ? how long dos it take to show on abstract ?
thx_______________

2800 is still pretty good after a ticket i pay the same with clean record so far and im 23/male well i just have 3 years north american experience so probably thts y !!! i'm with TD, and 1 other reason tht they told me is tht the area where i live in has higher accident rating but this rate is for third-party liability insurance which i think is too high since my car costs not more then $3000 lol ... so yeh my insurance expires in september 2008 so im good for now i guesss. i tried gettings quotes online from belair direct and few other companies but they were all more expensive, do u call them or get online quotes too ? and whats ur insurance company right now ... thanks for ur help

my car is a 2004 Mazda6 V6 Fully loaded with sport. Yup i am from waterloo region or rather I am a student here so of course I use waterloo has my address so I save a lot as oppose to toronto but my rates are sky high. I was with monnex intially because of alumni insurance and that was cheap but it was expensive after accident plus ticket.
Now I am with desjardins and its really cheap but every person is cheap at some company, I would advice you to try others and try kanetix.ca to get your insurance quote, I got it there and I called them half believing it and hey it actually work.
Good luck

unfortunately everyone's quoting me way more then im paying at TD i.e. 2800/year, i guess it all depends on the area where im living right now
and after the ticket it's gonna rise again ,,, it sucks giving insurance companies all tht money when my car isnt even covered since its third-party insurance ... i guess im gonna move to quebec soon

thats really high dude for just a 3rd party, i am paying that much for full, if I do 3rd party, it will be 180 a month and I am a young driver like you.
You tried kanetix.ca alrready? try belair or presidents choice insurance. Also try state farm insurance.
It is painful but try real hard as its your money. the stupid thing is what might be cheap for me might not be for you

oh yea one more, I just did a quote online for you by using same info but toronto area code my insurance went up by 1400 for full coverage. it went up from 269 a month to 380 a month. so good luck or consider changing your driver's license to one of those small town if you have someone staying there so your insurance will be cheaper.
You save so much more by that. A lot of my friends have graduated already and they still use my mailing address for insurance as it is so much cheaper in the Kitchener-Waterloo area

Here's fact:
minor speeding tickets (1-49km/hr) *convicted*...does not matter if you got a reduced fine or not are counted as 1 minor conviction
Most insurance companies (use an agent) allow 2 (and some 3) minor convictions. If you are over the limit...there is a surchange...usually 5-25% of your total premiums (depending on the company)...and some if you have 3 in a year...will not accept you (also depends on how many at fault claims you have).
It really depends on your risk and whether they have room to have you in their portfolio of policies._______________

Make a meeting with the crown for a pre-trial and they will offer you something...maybe 49km/h.

thanks for input guys
im already convicted
the prosecutor was offering me reduced speed but i said no i want to plead no guilty so was convicted for 72 in a 50 zone
dont have anyother ticket or at-fault accident
i guess the biggest bet is changing my address if i could... the area where i live right now i.e. east york has bad rating_______________

By the way in regards to your question 1
The G2 driver can be the primary driver BUT the premium/risk is based on the driver with the least experience and most risk. In this case the premium would like be based on the G2 driver (unless the G driver is most at risk ie has a lot of claims)
Again it also has to do with the owner of the car. If the G driver is the owner...likely the G driver will be the primary.
Either way, the premium is based on risk._______________

Why would you say no to a reduced speed???
And also, what the prosecutor offers you in the courtroom is sometimes diff from what would be offered in a 1-1 meeting.
