It is typically very easy to replace an IPC in most cars, assuming you're changing the whole thing out and not removing it and performing surgery on it to repair it anyway.
If it's a common problem on these vehicles then surely someone has written up a "how-to" article on the intarwebs no? Check some Escalade forums if you haven't already.

2003 Cadillac Deville Instrument cluster issue
My dad's instrument cluster and temperature cluster stopped working the other day. It just went black one day.
From reading on the internet it appears this is a somewhat common issue, especially among Escalades but the panel usually starts to flicker out first. His just went out all at once.
I took a look at the fuses for the car, but couldn't see any blown ones. Is there anyway else to test if it's actually the cluster that is broken? Does anybody have any idea how difficult it is to replace one?
Used panels on Ebay seem to be going for $60 US which is a heck of a lot cheaper than the $600 the Chevy dealership wanted.
I don't even know if Canadian Tire carries the repair manuals for Cadillacs but if they don't have the book how much in labour should I expect to pay to have 1 put in? (approx)_______________
