2009 Chevy Aveo/Pontiac Wave Price Drop To $9244

Under "current offers" from the GM Canada website, I'm seeing $9244 cash price for the Aveo5 and the Wave 5 door. The same car has been $9995 for several months now. Not a fan of these cars, but how could one go wrong at these prices. Very tempting.

This deal is for Quebec only. Punching in non Quebec postal codes results in prices $9995 and higher.

Updated 10/04/09. The 2009 Pontiac Wave/Chevy Aveo 5-door has now been reduced to $8999 and the Sedan models are now $9499 here in Quebec.

It looks like a Quebec deal only. Once I put my Postal Code in the price for both are at $9,995.

Yes, you're right it's Quebec only. Albertan's get to pay $10,995 for the same car. Almost makes it worth the trip.

Quebecors pay HST, whereas Albertans pay only GST

Good point Tom.

Now can anyone here who owns these cars post a quick review?

The 2009 Civic DX I've wanted is getting harder and harder to justify with these going for $9244.

Your bible of reasons NOT to BUY. With a Civic, you know there are still decent resale value 4 years later. This thing, consider a write off in 4 year of driving.

get a 2008 saturn astra xe for $11,995
lots of options, much better than aveo.
standard pw/pm/pdl/cruise etc.

our was $20,495 msrp
less $7200 incentives
less $1000 loyalty
less $750 maintenance agreement

if you can get by the fact that saturn or gm might
not be around ,it was an excellent buy.

2008's are getting very hard to find.

these things are just rebadged Daewoo's. I haven't checked the actual crash test ratings, but I've heard they're worse than Civics and corollas. I'm leaning towards honda insight or civic, or corolla or camry hybrid. My choices will not be base models of civic or corolla. It's gotta have some features that I can live with.

Here we go again with the same opinion this reminds me of the recent Uplander deal resulting in recommendations for Odyssee/Sienna instead for just a little more money ($20K-$25K more to be precise). What a great deal?

OK, now that the GM haters, who don't even own or have spent all of 30 minutes with the car have had their say, can the actual OWNERS of the 2009 redesigned models please stand up and post their views and experiences??

I tried to find a manual 2008 Astra XE last week, none available. The best I could get was about $14,200 for a 2009. Not great.

Thanks.

While the price does seem great, I would sure need to drive a redesigned 2009 for a while before I put down good money on one.

I had one of these as a long term rental for 2+ months in the fall of 2007. Horrible vehicle. Just a touch below the Hyundai Accent I had as a simular long term car...

I live in Ottawa -> I can drive to Quebec in less than half an hour.
Should I be able to get the 9244 price with an Ontario address if I do business with a Quebec dealer?
