Looks like Florida wanted to drop Allen's salary for next year and Samsonov is a UFA. Allen is pretty much regarded as a pylon now due to a knee surgery a while back.
Even still, a low draft pick or a 2nd tier prospect is better than a player like Samsonov, especially when you've sold pretty much everyone else.

Haha, he's just reposting Bob McKenzie's tweets.
Ottawa sends Campoli and a conditional 7th to Chicago for Ryan Potulny and a conditional 2nd.
Conditions not listed yet.
To those questioning why teams that are sellers are still acquiring NHLers, it's pretty simple, you still need to be able to ice a team, both at the NHL and AHL levels.

Klesla is an injury prone defenceman signed at $3 million for the next 3 years. He hasn't panned out since being the 4th overall pick in 2000.
Gives Columbus cap flexibility in the off-season as well.

Any Oil fan wanna chime in on what to expect from Potulny?
With regards to icing NHL caliber teams, that's a myth! The Leafs have been icing ECHL level players for 3 years now. (So has Ottawa for the last couple months but that's a small detail.)
