2013 Kia Forte Sedan

Hi there RFDers, using unhaggle I was able to get a total price of $20,900 cash for a 2013 Forte Sedan EX with AT & Sunroof...I visited Dixie 401 Kia and they were able to offer me the same price ($20,900 cash) for the vehicle. I told them I'd discuss with my parents as it's my first new car purchase. I wanted to know if this is a good deal? Or have people been able to get them for cheaper (I know the 2014s should be rolling in the next couple of months)

What do you mean by total price? If tax is already included then yes otherwise I think you have more wiggle room. Unhaggle's report should teach you how to add reasonable dealer profit to arrive at the on the road/out the door price after tax.

2014's won't be out until the fall. I bought a 2013 Forte EX Sedan back in Oct for 20,500 on the road so I find it hard to imagine the sunroof version can be so cheap when the discount now is only $1000 as opposed to the $2000 I had when I purchased. $20,900 x 1.13 = 23,617 would be a tad expensive. Working backwards from what I paid:

Backing out tax then adding sunroof and adding back portion if discount that I had which is available now:
[(20,500 / 1.13) + (900 + 1000)] * 1.13 = 22,647.

You have more room to work with if 20,900 is after tax already. Otherwise you're not using the invoice reports right.

Using Kia's Web Site to Build and Price, the sale price is $19,250 for a black one before taxes.

Excise tax for your A/C is $100.

Sale price with 13% tax added is $21,865 - see web site or window sticker for added paint charge.

So it seems the dealer has knocked a bit off the manufacturer's sale price. With the EX loaded with A/T and sun roof the dealer has some mark-up to play with. Once you are decided on the Kia ask for a few hundred less. When they say "No" tell them you'll think about it but make sure they have your phone number. The salesperson will call and knock a bit more off but not what you asked.

What province are you in? It helps us figure out the taxes.

I saw wrong. There's a 3,000 discount going on now. I'm confident you can push them to 20,700 which is still a little above invoice + 500.

unhaggle should be partnered up with a couple dealerships that could have offered you instantly invoice + 500 without hassle. The only reason I didn't take the offer was colour + location (West Toronto is a tad far and they lied to me so I refused to give them my business).

MSRP after discounts is 21,792.05 so 27,000 is total bull.

Kia's don't have good re-sale value yet. They may in the future but not yet. A Honda civic or Subaru impreza would be a much better alternative. Especially the Subaru impreza.

+1 on the re-sale value of a late model Kia Forte sedan. Decent car when I drove a 2012 rental last spring.....last summer I priced a few out...a 2011 EX auto (no sunroof I think) with less 30K was priced in the $13K range...asking price. I know that they have a longer than average warranty...PITA to get warranty work done was what I heard too.

Actually the Forte gets very good ratings in contrast to the ever declining Civic...Both the Civic and Impreza by the time you add features in comparison to Kia you're looking at $27000-28000 taxes in...so both cars become irrelevant in my opinion there's no comparison for the $

That's a great price.

They're clearing the 2013 out. Yes the 2014 will be out by fall. Estimates might show it might be in by late summer.

The honest truth is the current Forte is dated and Kia isn't banking on it anymore. Their current star child is the Optima. The Koup was their IT car in 2009-2010 before the Optima. Kinda sad the way they treated the Forte since it was the car that generated buzz before the Optima came along.

It's a decent car if you get it for a decent price. 401 Dixie Kia is a decent dealer for service you can do worse if you go to a dealer that was a converted GM dealer (AVOID THOSE AT ALL COSTS).

Check out the forums for issues with the car there aren't many.
