2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Not sure how much is hearsay and how much is legit, but IMO here is a gorgeous, albeit rendered, car.

The Mazda MX-5 will remain a rear-wheel drive compact sports coupe with exterior design inspired by the Shinari Concept unveiled earlier this year. With the new generation, Mazda will focus on reducing the total weight to less than 1,000 kilos.

At the launch of the Shinari concept, Ikuo Maeda, general manager of Mazda Motor Corp.’s design division said: "this design will lead to the next generation of Mazda design and will lead to other elements." Guess the MX-5 will be among the first to adopt Mazda’s new "Kodo - Soul of Motion" design language.

Nice, more manly and taking some design looks from the BMW Z4

Definitely. I love how a Miata drives, along with the Cooper S, it's the only car I've driven that would make me want to give up my sportsbike (which I plan on doing in 2-3 years), but the looks have never been something that made me go ga-ga.

Mazda claims to take a lot of hints from their concept (shown below) and they plan on using elements from this on their next generations of cars, beginning with the 6 series.

Looks like a big improvement from the NC Miata design. And the weight reduction is good to hear. It's back down to what the NA Miatas were.

Cloth top is what helps keep the car light, and light is what makes it a Miata (MX-5)! Maybe they will have the PRHT as an option again, but I can't see them not having a cloth top.

Besides, there cloth tops are soooo easy and fast to put up, you don't even need to get out of your seat, just reach back and pull it up and over. it takes like 3 seconds.

Looks almost BMW-like, but with better reliablity, and without insanely expensive maintenance costs. Very nice. :D

RWD less than 1000kilo, this is a corner jack, the skilled can probably do a 90 degree right lane to right lane tight turn, going in at 90km/h

Nice. I see elements of Honda S2000, BMW Z3, and Jaguar coupe. Hope the Canadian pricing will be similar to the US, but not counting on it.

I am not seeing the s2k elements? I see the bmw and jaguar elements.
