2016 Bmw x5 vs 2017 Audi Q7

2016 Bmw x5 vs 2017 Audi Q7

My 2012 Bmw 328i lease is coming to an end in July and I have a young son so my dreams of an M or AMG are shelved for now. I am contemplating getting either and X5(loyalty discount) or Q7(extra passenger and cargo space). Which of the two would be the better model to consider and is there any other brands I should consider for decent performance, decent styling and people moving ability?

- Can always get an X5M
- Since you can't wait to compare the new gen X5 coming next year, at this point most people would likely go with the Q7 between the two.
- Might want to consider Volvo XC90, MB GLE/GL, Acura MDX, Lexus RX350/GX460, LR LR4/RR Sport.

I think the XC90 is the best looking hands down, but to be honest i'm not entirely in love with the interior.

Why do you have to give up your dream machine ?

There are M/AMG across all their models (sedan to CUV to SUV to coupe to convertible).

Swing a deal on the X5M ... +1 @Bombdiggity ... but the interest rate and residual are deal breaker, perhaps.

I would have said MY2018 SQ7 .... but I guess only if you can wait for about 9 months from now

If M is your dream couldn't you save your money for a bit longer ? I always found it better to save for the thing you really want, rather than get something you don't want and then sell it and lose money to get the end goal.

That being said don't like the look of the new Q, but that's just me.

SUV is the new soccer mom/dad vehicle of choice; there's a reason the rates on them are so high.

The X5 looks like an old model, no LCD display, no LED lights, cramped 7 seats... The Q7 is ugly and expensive, but drives well and the dashboard is amazing. The best option in this segment, by far, is the Volvo XC90. Cheaper, safer and has the best interior/exterior.

X5 over Q7. Not a big fan of the Q7 exterior. With one kid you don't need a 7 seater.

Porsche cayenne and Range rover. Probably my top 2 choices in this category
