So does anyone know if 17' would be good enough to clear brakes on the R(same as performance pack GTI)? Or do you need 18'

Thinking about getting 17'steel wheels from Costco. I can buy tires on my own.

Looking at x47512 model of Costco steel wheels online.
heres some info for ya

:) I love the black and blue.. but I went ultimate sleeper :P
So easy to keep clean and hides any imperfections :)

I agree Golf R in the US is 50,000 CDN lol
So it's a steal up here..

It's not a sellers market, it's a buyers market... you just need to go to a high volume dealer that sells a ton of diesels..
Sorry but when 30-40% of your sales are CUT, you will do anything to get more cars out the door...

For me it was simple.. the Base STI was $499/Month taxes, the Golf R was $640/month taxes in
STI they took off $1700 "I honestly think the sales manager was BS-ING" Because after he said we will work together to get that number "as me in putting money down.."
Golf R $0 - MSRP
Golf R is not worth $140/Month.. over the STI
I have never had any previous Subarus or VW, so no loyalty credits.. and 0 promotions going on
Had to go into Subaru to put a deposit and sign bill of sale, then this VW diesel stuff came out..
I waited a few days.. emailed the VW sales rep.. and said look thanks for all your help, I like the Golf R but it's a lot more than the STI
He emailed back, do you mind if I ask what kind of deal you got?
I emailed him the bill of sale "not singed"..
He goes, hold tight let me see what I can do for you...
1 hour later I get an email how does $564 - taxes in sound
I wrote back SOLD

Went to sign on Monday :D
$2300 off.....
Even with the 5.9% rate, it's still a better deal than the BASE STI..
Hell even the 45k STI with all the options.. still doesn't have as many as the GOLF R..
LED Low Beams vs Bi-Xenon with AFS...
H/K Sound System vs Fender - The fender system SOUNDS AMAZING.. H/K is good.. but not great
Actually have the H/K System in our 2016 legacy... it's alright..

The good news though, VW was offering no deals at the time.. so when the car comes in they could have a promotion going on...
Maybe lease cash? Maybe new buyers? who knows.. Rate Drop?
My price will either stay the same or go down :D

I just realized.. how lucky I get when I buy a car... I wonder who will mess up next time I buy lol
VW - Diesel - Golf R - $2300 Off - Factory Ordered
GM - Bankruptcy - Cobalt SS/TC - $7500 Off - Factory Ordered
Congrats! That's an awesome deal you got.

Which dealer is this?

I played around with the numbers but couldn't come back to $564 tax in even with $2300 off... Did you put money down?

If anyone is looking for a Golf R in the Halton region, my co-worker cancelled his order and now his allocation is available. He ordered at Oakville VW.

OH, so all that excitement from your comments is just in anticipation. Heh.

No different than the Focus RS fan club.

I don't know who said the AMG hot hatch was almost the same as the Focus RS but I went and configured it for Mateschitz and giggles and got to around $58,000 for similarly configured trim. Mercedes nickel and dimes you to death for some basic stuff like push button start. Really, on a $50,000 car you still need that to be an option? Base CLA45 is still pretty attractive though.

Yea lol :D

Maybe it was me... I think the RS pricing is stupid, even though it was my first choice..
Here's how I look at it.. if you can spend 47k for a Ford Ecobox you can afford 51k for an AMG.... or m235i X-drive..
AMG Interior and build quality miles ahead of the Ford, resale value will be so much more..
Your also driving a Mercedes...not a modified ford focus with .3L bigger engine and another driveshaft

Don't get me wrong the R is modified GTI, but it's not asking a 20k premium...

I thought of gla45 but to have decent interior features and exterior styling you need to option up to around 60k msrp which is almost 15-16k difference accounting for some discount. thats when S3 looks stupidly expensive

Sorry, I was talking about CLA45 AMG.. which has cheaper options but yea.. I agree after options.. it's pricey "used GTR range"
So that still leaves the M235i which is optioned out..
