Check the date code. Anything newer than 2 years should be fine.

I just bought last 4 General Tire Altimax Arctic Tire at my Canadian tires.
they were in clearance 99 dollars each from 179 (91dollars with rebate). I hope I scored a good deal, I don't know much about tires but I didn't have bigger budget
Check the date code. Anything newer than 2 years should be fine. I have seen 5 year old tires sold at CT before.

Altimax arctic is on clearance hence not all store would have them. First check inventory in different stores and go to store which has them. Else you can buy hankook ipike rsv which is in same price (not as good as arctic) and are available in store.
today canadiantire giving $20 for every $100 spent. Your tire would be $376, you can buy something else to make it $400 and get $80 discount. On top of that these tire company is giving $35-$40 rebate.

$376 + $50 -$80 -$40 = $306 ... as per canadiantire rule, installation is free and they charge for balancing. They will force you to go for balancing but balancing is not mandatory (I talked to Canadinatire corporate customer relation dept). But make sure they install tire free else warranty is void.

sorry, very late to the thread.. and I am on the hunt for winter tires.
I have been looking on kijiji for used tires but ranges are 300-450.

So now considering new tires. I need it for my 2005 Corolla (185/65/R15).
What's a good deal on these and how to check the manufacture date?
Get a set of Continental WinterContact SI or General Altimax Arctic 12.

Any winter tire below 7/32 (wear mark) is useless. Most of the kijiji tires are between 6/32 and 8/32. I would never buy winter tires from kijiji (summer tire is different story) unless they are branded and good tread depth above 8/32.

Non branded winter tires are always on sale around $250-$300

I bought online yesterday this tires, but I didn't pickup yet in the store, will they give me anyway the 20 dollars off for every 100 spent?

Are the ws80 much better? With the rebate they come same price than nordic
I absolutely love mine. I've used winter tires my whole driving life and I do enjoy blizzaks. Accident free and winters in general have allowed me to avoid accidents narrowly. Costco usually has good pricing on these. Disregard fuel economy, these are soft so they're gonna make that a little worse, but even to say if it was 1mpg, that's nothing compared to your safety, a deductible and dealing with insurance or physio. Also like General Altimax's and continental.

Don't cancel ... just go to store on friday ... first cancel and then rebuy them again right away ... since altimax is on clearance and going fast, there is chance that someone else buy it and hence cancel order now wouldn't be wise

I called customer service.
they told me will be up to the store if they let me cancel and buy again on Friday, plus the promotion says 20 dollars for 100 dollars or more. means I would need put one tire for order, which again would be up to the store to do so!
is that too much to ask at the store or you think they will do for me?!

My promo was $50 for above $200 purchase .... I bought 2 tires ($190 + some other $10 item) in each billing ... so I had 2 orders.
You need to have 4 orders ($94 + any other $6 item) ...
Store should have no issue in cancelling order and then reselling it .... you had to go to "return desk" for cancellation and then go and grab your tires where ever they are (offcourse they would ready for pickup with your old order#) and get them billed (tell them you are the one for which it is ready for pick up) ... you should be good ... CT don't like cancellation but once cancelled they would be happy to sell it again

ok I will try tanks.
my tires are 99 dollars each plus few dollars for some echo fee or something similar. that makes more than 100 dollars for tire.
am I good or that echo fees don't apply for the 100 dollars goal?
