2018 Volkswagen Golf and GTI

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/volkswag ... irst-look/

Loving the upgrades and new look!

-----------------------------------

Unhaggle report for the 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI is available. $32k MSRP for the 6 speed DSG. If you do a 5 year lease @ 20k km annually, the average monthly payment after tax in Ontario is $386, with a gross amount to lease being $32k. Interest rate is 3.49%. Financing @ 2.99% makes it $650/month tax included, while 3.99% for 84 months makes it $495/month tax included.

I know what I'm doing later this month. It can also be stacked with the $500 graduate rebate.

If you want to know how the car is equipped, order guide is here!

Edit: Seems like Unhaggle reports for the Volkswagen Golf family is out. I can confirm leasing a GTI costs roughly the same as leasing a Golf Comfortline!

242HP with the performance pack is a significant amount of power. A stage 1 ECU tune should easily get that to 300hp, which is nuts. I guess the power bump is to make the cost a bit more tolerable considering how the current GTI Performance pack is only $2000 less than a Golf R.

I prefer the look of the Pretorias, and quad exhaust tip on my R. I do dig the black roof and sunroof. I think VW needs to find a way to bring the sunroof to the NA market. It's not a deal breaker for me, but it does seem like a weird feature to lack for a car that has a lot of embedded features.

Yes, but most tuners will get rid of the stock wheels and replace with some other "fancy rims" sooner or later anyway.
Waiting to see the 0-100km/hr number and 1/4 mile.

It looks fine, but not too much difference on the recent GTi we see on the road now.

I like that its got Audi's virtual cockpit. Hopefully it'll make its way into other VW models as well

Best guess would 0-60: 5.5 seconds with the DSG and 6.0 with the 6 Speed (FWD is still the biggest obstacle). Most real world tests of the current MK7 are getting around 5.9 with the DSG and 6.5 with the 6 speed for the Performance pack.

1/4 mile i'd guess to be around 14.0 considering the current one does it in 14.5

Although the HP jump, the number aren't very impressive. my old 07 Mazdaspeed3 can do 5.5 on 0-100km/hr and 13.9 on 1/4 mile. (looking back on a 9 years old car)
Most said a chip will bring the car to 300hp...ya, but so with other cars. it is a matter of how much $ and mod you put into it.

One thing I admit that VW always has their own fans.

We'll have to see what the journalists are able to get, but yes I agree the old MS3 was a fantastic bang for buck sports hatch, more so than the GTI at the time. But the knock on that car has always been its interior which felt too cheap. When you think about it though, anyone with enough money to be considering a PP GTI should be getting the Golf R.

Depending on what you comparing with, if you take a look with the WRX or Ralliart of the same year, their interior is even worse than on a MS3 but cost more.
Golf R with auto DSG and a Tech pkg goes to 44k + tax, which is getting pricy for a small hatch.

it would be interest to see how much the selling this new GTI.

Now imagine everything VW has done with the MQB platform as a 2 door RWD coupe, it would dominate the market.

I love everything VW is doing with the GTI, such a perfect all around package aside from being FWD.

Lol...yea the drivetrain is wrong... And reliability is still huge issue with VW..I've had a few GTIs last one being a mk vi...none you want to keep after a few years after warranty is gone

With pricing of VW nowadays..might as well get a cheap BMW 328...it'll last longer

But who am I to talk about reliability...I drive a M car and those are absolute junk for reliability too.. but leased so no care
