Wasn't the previous model the best selling mid-sized SUV in the European market last year? No reason to think that this won't continue the trend.
I've driven teh xc90 with the twin charged engine. I won an s60 with the old I6 engine. There is no comparison. The new engine sounds worse, feels worse, and seems disconnected from the accelerator pedal. Unless the xc60 drops serious weight compared to the xc90, Volvo has another F10 5 series on their hands.

From Autoweek: Official: 2018 Volvo XC60 has the brand's future on its shoulders

To maintain demand for XC60, Volvo made the second-generation model 44 mm longer (4688 mm), 108 mm wider (1999 mm) while reducing the SUV's height by 55 mm (1658 mm). Despite the changes, which Volvo says make the XC60 the biggest model in its class, the SUV's weight is either 20 kg lighter or 20 kg heavier than its predecessor, depending on the powertrain. This was achieved through extensive use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and hot-formed boron steel. The SUV's ground clearance has been reduced to 216 mm from 230 mm, however, Volvo says the new figure is still best in class.

I have to admit that looks like a winner.

I just traded in my 2012 XC60RD towards an RDX...but I will definitely consider Volvo again for my next car (in 3 years time).

What do you think of the RDX? That's one of vehicles we want to compare to a 2017 XC60T6.. I havent had an Acura since back in 2000.

I like it so far, we have 4000 km on it now. It's a 2017 Elite

Lots of features and electronics that we didn't have on the XC60 like navi, cooled seats, radar cruise control, power lift gate, parking sensors etc.

However i prefer the drivetrain of the Volvo. The T6 RD was a sweet motor. I liked the seats better and the panoramic sunroof.

The XC60 has more trunk space, the RDX more room in the cabin.

The RDX was a fair bit cheaper too than the XC60 i was looking to get, even after the large cash discount on the Volvo. A bit better on gas, it's lighter and less powerful

I was also leery of buying a 2017 XC60 when the new model was about to come out.

Thanks.. there's a pretty big cash discount on the 2017s now, but even at that they are still expensive. The new XC60 looks amazing, but you do pay for it. (And it really really does make the 2017 look old!)

I also like buttons so that touchscreen is still a turn of regardless of how well it works. I'd have to give it a try I guess.

Too bad there's never quite a perfect vehicle out there!

You can always get a CPO. 0.9% financing on CPOs, extended warranty to 6 years or 160k km, relatively same as MY2017 with the only difference on 2017 being the 4 cylinder Driv-E instead of 5 cylinder Driv-E on the SE trims. There are quite a few CPOs right now and with the announcement of the new XC60, I think there's quite a bit of negotiating room on them.

I find that Volvos are best values when bought as a low mileage used/demo. (I'm shopping for one right now!)

I personally would get a CPO 2016 with the old school T5 5 cylinder or better yet, T6 with the 300 hp inline 6. Better warranty than a new vehicle with old school proven technology to boot. You'd have a good selection of them as well.

Good luck car shopping!

Has the reliability been improved? I read about many complaints on the 2016 XC90 when it came out.

No doubt this upcoming XC60 looks the classiest and the most sophisticated in its segment.

No doubt this upcoming XC60 looks the classiest and the most sophisticated for sure in its segment.
For sure. I sat in every luxury SUV at the Autoshow and the XC90 was by far the nicest design and felt the most high-end inside and out.

Starting price of $45,900...
2018 VOLVO XC60 PRICED FROM $45,900, BUT CHECK THE HYBRID!
THREE EXCELLENT ENGINES, THREE DIFFERENT NATURES
https://www.auto123.com/en/news/2018-vo ... ing/63600/

Starting this fall, Canadian buyers looking for a luxury compact SUV will have a new option in the new second-generation 2018 Volvo XC60, first unveiled in Geneva last month and introduced for North America in New York just two weeks ago, in conjunction with the Swedish automaker’s 90th birthday celebrations.

With a starting price of $45,900, the new XC60 includes standard all-wheel drive, and three engine choices: the 250-hp turbocharged T5, the 316-hp turbocharged and supercharged T6 and the 400-hp T8 hybrid. Buyers will also be able to have their pick from among three versions: Momentum, R-Design and Inscription.

Known around the world for its excellence in the field of automotive safety, Volvo has included in the 2018 XC60 two new systems: steering assist (three separate systems in fact) and Oncoming Lane Mitigation assist, which helps prevent collisions and reduces the impact of those that do happen.

The new XC60 is also one of the first Volvo models (along with the 90 series) to integrate the latest updates to the company’s connected services as well as a modernized, more user-friendly Sensus interface featuring improved menus.

We’ll be road testing the new Volvo XC60 in the near-future, so check back often on Auto123.com for our review.

Looking forward to see the XC60 go head to head against the Audi Q5! Much more excited about the XC60 at the moment.

There were some minor issues in the beginning (sunroof leaks, bugs in the entertainment system...) but it is pretty solid right now. Volvo did a great job addressing the initial concerns.

The Polestar package will have a 21 HP over the regular XC60 T8.

"The Polestar performance package on the XC60 T8 tweaked the engine, gearbox and throttle response in order to optimize everything for a more pleasurable and powerful driving experience. The engine in particular was given more mid-range power and torque to take advantage of the rev range that gets more use in daily driving, and also to make it easier to embarrass Macan Guy. The transmission has been optimized around this bump in mid-range whee, with faster shift points and programming that tells it to hold a gear when cornering with high G-forces so it doesn’t upset the balance of the car."

Saw it last week and I felt like a kid in the candy store. It's on my Instagram but I don't think anyone who isn't a friend can view it.
