Really an excellent backpack, some reviews indicate the same model has been around for, and lasted people 20 years. While I don't expect my kids to get that much life out of it, we've been spending $30 a year on backpacks from Costco/Winners/Walmart that don't survive one.

I have that backpack, had it for a few years now and not a damn thing is wrong with it. In fact i even have one from the mid 90's that is still in perfect condition but just looks outdated.

great bag, my son has used one for three school years now, he used to go through 2 bags a school year. Only downside is, it's really not stylish or cool. I've considered getting him a 'cool' bag for the school year.
This and other backpacks sales were discussed in this thread-

Family member has that backpack for about 10 years. A few years ago the zipper broke. Free fix. I know on rare occasions they don't fix zipper breaks but this was kind of the fabric around it pulling off. Lifetime warranty is pretty hard to beat.

+1111 for MEC warranty. Have replaced bike light that I dropped, kids sunglasses that they snapped in half and most recently a 4 year old version of the back pack. The zipper broke while I was on vacation so I brought it in to local MEC store. They offered to fix it in 7-10 days but I was leaving in 3 days so they just gave me a brand new one. No questions asked. Even gave me a new receipt for the future just in case.
That's service for ya.
Now with kids starting schoolwe bought a mec bag for them as well. Worth the extra $10-20 per bag not to have to replace in 2 years.Last edited by southnam; Aug 6th, 2012 at 12:55 PM.
