2800 Xbox Live points for 27.99 (plus cheap filler item)
I've been thinking about trying out some of the new XLA games and found that Amazon.ca is selling the XBL point cards slightly below MSRP. Fortunately we all know a little trick for getting an extra $10 off, don't we?
2800 points card = 37.99
Filler item (10ft network cable) = 2.99
$10 off coupon = -10.00
Total: 30.98
After factoring in the network cable (or whatever filler you use), it works out to 27.99, which I think is a solid deal for 2800 points. The next cheapest price I could find was 35.99 at today's FS sale. You could even order 2x 1400 point cards to use as individual gifts (or save an extra penny), and the entire order also qualifies for free shipping.
Edit: AND you can go through the airmileshops.ca site to qualify for Air Miles and their 100 point bonus!

This should combined into the Amazon thread. Also: http://www.filleritem.com/ca.html
I did this last week. My filler items were 3 Wii Fit bags ($0.99 each).

If the cards weren't already 5% off, this would be a much less tempting deal and probably not worth a separate post. I find that filler website isn't very comprehensive outside of books and music- I prefer to just sort categories by price.

No. You can only download arcade games, expansion packs, and add-ons like gamer pics and themes. I'm not sure about Canada, but in the US you can also purchase music, tv shows, and movies.

Quit your belly aching, no one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to buy anything. The fact that you don't know the basics of XBL and XLA probably means you're a casual gamer at best. Most Xbox gamers don't waste money on things like wallpaper and themes, but there's plenty of great stuff to purchase on XLA, such as Braid, Portal SA, Shivering Isles, Bring Down The Sky, Mega Man 9, Castlevania SotN . . . the list goes on and on.
