[Canada Computers] $299 Athlon 64 AM2 X2 5200+, RADEON X1200, 2GB DDR2 667, 250GB HDD, DVD-RW, 500W PSU

After waiting for the Acer Aspire deal to be restocked, I found this deal. It's not as good as the Acer deal, but the pros are that it's more than $100 cheaper and can support all video cards (unlike the Aspire). Downside is that there's no OS, no Blu-Ray, less memory/HDD. I could be wrong, but if it's using AM2, maybe the processor could be upgradable to a Phenom(?)

Edit: I'm assuming this thing has PCI-e, if it doesn't, it should be trashed and rightly so. But I can't pull up specs anywhere.

Could be a nice cheap gaming rig with a 4850/4870: $300+175 on BST = ~$500
As of the time of this post there are about 30-40 units in stock.

This is decent, but like you said not as good as the Acer deal. If for $100 more you can get so much, than you might as well wait for something better that comes up.
I guess this is ok if you are desperate for one, but if it was for me I would wait.

You might as well just build it yourself. The generic cases from CC are quite $hitty. At the end of the day, the saving is not really there and you're just getting some crappy parts.

For pre-built, get the cheap Dell and it's about the same $ every other week.

Doesn't come with the OS.
Again, as somebody pointed out, better to get the Dell Vostro deal.

What are you talking about? $299 with tax (13%) = $337
Pick up a 4850 off BST = $170
Total $507.87, I said ~$500...

Those Vostro deals look pretty decent, I may end up going with those instead and save myself the hassle of a CC build. At least with the Vostro's I know I'm getting a x16 on it. Don't know if the Vostro can power a 4850/4870 though.

Please don't ask me "what are you talking about", read what you posted. The first price you said was $475, the 2nd price was $500+. Yes, not huge difference, but was just pointing out in case some people really on tight budget.

We all know there will be tax on items. Just add 13% in your head.
You can easily do this in your head to get an approximate total.

The answer is No, because Phenom uses AM2+ socket (not AM2).
One could upgrade to the faster processors on AM2 socket, like 6000+
