I'm sure some of you have had this problem:
I've been using my gmail account for about 6 years. I love it, but my email address isn't exactly easy to remember nor is it very "professional".
I would like to start a new email account and create a simpler name. I'd use gmail again, but anything that even resembles my name is already in use, and I'd rather not go back to using random letters and numbers again.
I'm looking for something free, that ISN'T yahoo, msn, hotmail, hushmail or any other common @email address. Basically, I'd use this new email as a front and have the emails forwarded to my gmail account.
Anything good out there?

try @live.ca or @live.com, the only problem with those two is that it doesnt allow forwarding to gmail

Not quite free, but ~$1/mo is pretty darn close:
Register yourname.ca at NamesPro.ca for $12.88/yr, and it includes 1 free 100MB mailbox. Assuming they let you setup a catch-all, that one mailbox could actually service a near unlimited number of email addresses.

I agree with GSRee, what you should do is register your own domain name. Then you can create whatever email address you want and forward it wherever you want. It's portable and permanent and under your own control. It's a small investment to make when control of your email address is so important.

I can't remember the site as I haven't used mine in ages but there is a free one out there that allows for a ending like @techie.com or something like that.
ann nvmd I found the site, http://www.mail.com/learnmore.aspx they offer premium e-mail accounts also. but they offer a techie.com or consultant.com exstention that could make it look "legit".

why not buy a domain and park it with email enabled, looks professional and you can have any email address you wish:
admin@yourdomain
god@yourdomain
etc@yourdomain
and cost would be under $30 a year.
and if you want to be cheap, why not use your internet account as email,
yourname@providerdomain and it looks good.

Remember this is RFD, I'd be curious to see how many people are leeching a neighbors Wifi just to access this site.
Anyways,
www.mail.com isn't bad and has a lot of options for addresses. I made a fake account using it for spam (to receive)_______________
