you can pull out any amount from RBC from the Tangerine side.
Makes sense. Any worry about the RBC side?

I got 3% for 180 days for saving account from the marketing people that called me back. Frontline support couldn't give it.
They said there's no offer at all on the rate for TFSA accounts at the moment.

For registered funds, there seems to be a promo: if you transfer 25000$ to them from another bank before Oct 31, 2018 and leave it there until Dec 31, 2018, they give you 250$ cash.
The registered fund promo, did they mention it over the phone or is there a link? Do you know the start date for it?

It's showing in the "Insight" part of the website. Maybe its a targeted promo, I'm not sure. I think it started Oct 1, 2018. The transferred funds have to stay only until December 2018.

The register promo for up $250 is when you open investment account mutual fund etc not for HISA

Where did you guys see the 3% for 6 months at RBC? I can't find it when I'm logged in. I have just contacted Tangerine now and they didn't want to offer the 3%/6mo "we don't match other banks". Got the 2.5% and asked them to "escalate" - . Let's see what happens.

"You can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-888-826-4374 or 416-756-2424.
You can then speak with our supervisor team.
Please note, that they will not be able to offer a higher savings rate."

In a fit of boredom I went through chat this morning and was given the 2.5% until April offer. When I asked about escalating or if there was was a special marketing team that could offer more I was given a blunt No and directed towards their GIC offerings. Looks like they want to lock up our money for finite periods so they don't have to worry about the constant movement in search of higher rates. Can't say I blame them, but then if they just gave us 3% we probably wouldn't be threatening to move it either.

Saniokca,

Here is a link to the RBC offer. I was also looking for it to and googled. I called Tangerine a few weeks back and only got 2.5% for 6 months. Looks like it is time to call again and ask for the special marketing group and if not successful getting 3% with them then move money to RBC.

I was on 2.75% until jan 2019. Tangerine called yesterday and offered to bump up my rate to 3% for 6 month, so of course i accepted

Called this morning no call back yet. Apparently they are staffed but it's probably a skeleton team on weekends

I have two saving accounts maxed out at previous 500K limit. I called in and politely asked for a match of TD's 3.2%. They called me back within 2 hours and offered 3% for 6 months + increase current limit beyond 1 mil.

Move the money anyway over the phone & call their bluff & wait for a call.

Lot of people threatened to move the money & the front line CSR said the marketing people will be calling them later. The CSR did not have the power to give them 3 % , but the marketing guys, who called them later offered them 3 %, based on the CSR notes.

I wish I'd read more of the thread, didn't see these posts. The last 3 times I called (3 mo intervals) I got: 2.5%, 2%, and this time 2% as well. I told the agent that I would move my money back to EQ (a linked account that I stopped using because I'm not supposed to have it as I don't live in Canada right now) and he was like ok, but I can only offer you 2% for 6 months. I said ok, apply it, but I will be moving my money, and that was the end of that discussion. I guess what I should have done was call a few days ahead of my previous promotion expiring (rather than the day of), and try to prompt one of these marketing guys to return my call. Even now that I "accepted" the rate, I wonder if I could call back, say tomorrow, and actually ask the CSR to get the marketing people to call me back. I really don't want to have to keep shuffling my money around to get decent rates, it's a big pain in the ass.

-edit-
In fact, I think I'll try quoting that TD rate. I mean it doesn't hurt to try, worst they can say is no.

Can anyone confirm that 1-888-600-9890 is a legitimate Tangerine Bank telephone number?

Got a voicemail to call that number back for "an interest rate offer". Hope it's 3%!

They've been using it since at least July. (See https://forums.redflagdeals.com/3-month ... #p29624879 )

But I could never get through to the person who left the message. Every time I called that number and extension I got voice mail. So I have no idea what "offer" I missed.

The silly games these people play...
