I've read this post with both amusement and fascination, i've struggled hard to stay away. However like most folks here, I am too weak to not inject some wisdom to such a deserving person. You read like my younger (naive) cousin who believes that the world revolves around him and that he's invincible.
I think going to courts will do him good. You have to accept the responsibilities of your actions. Then again, the courts will probably just slap him on the risk, fine him $300 and send him on his marry way.
Acura02, I believe that most of these folks replying (including me) are quite a bit older than you. I think we've all gone through the phase, but have gotten out of it by college/university. All you are doing is giving Ryerson a bad name and every teacher that taught you is hanging their heads with your atrocious spelling. It doesn't matter what the forum your are presenting in. To conduct yourself in a civil and educated manner creates respect. Not spelling well is like (there's that simile) a drunk talking to the officer that got pulled over.
I wish you (and your "friend") good luck. I just hope you conduct yourself better in court.Last edited by chestnut; Feb 4th, 2005 at 11:20 AM.

Feb 4th, 2005 12:49 PM #213The reason i keep talking is because this thread was made to give ideas on how to deal with this ticket ... some of u say just pay it get on with your life .. OK thanks, at least its advice, but some people just want to be ignorant and post things that have nothing to do with this matter. An example, intelligence and spelling errors.

Ive made numerous attempts to steer the flames towards useful information, but people such as you, JAX and others in this thread make it almost impossible. Then you people claim that i lack intelligence? OK fine, think what you want, but all you are proving to me is how ignorant you are.
OH and yet again ignorance overwhelms me .. i will not appear i court because these are not my offencesLast edited by flame02; Feb 4th, 2005 at 12:51 PM.

Mosquitos on steroids!
I agree! I don't understand why people put a performance muffler on a shitbox to make it sound like it might have some power. Buy a real car, and it has plenty of power and sounds much nicer than a civic with a big muffler!

Best way to beat a ticket...
The best shot your friend has is for the cop not to show. Your friend is entitled to 3 postponements.

Hearing 2: Your friend hides in the bathroom while someone goes and asks if the cop is present. If the cop is there, your friend stays in the bathroom, and the other person says that your friend is sick, and needs to postpone. IF the cop isn't there, your friend comes out of the bathroom and pleads not guilty and wins.
Hearing 3: Same as hearing 2, but the excuse is an emergency at work.
Hearing 4: If the cop shows, your friend is screwed! But this never happens to anyone.
Hope this helps, but for the record, your friend probably did something to piss off the cop to land up with three tickets. Teach him the "Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir" rule of dealing with police.

Aye Carumba!
As A highway designer and transportation engineer I'll offer my 2 cents. You can take it or leave it. I think your friend deserved every one of those tickets and I hope he is made to pay them all.
I have read about half of this thread and can't stand any more, so forgive me if these points have already been made.
Ticket one - Noise - there are 2 reasons I can see for this ticket to be enforced. First from a design perspective, environmental assesments are done to ensure people and wildlife along public corridors are not adversely affected by traffic noise. In order to design for this noise level, I use complex formulas that assume a certain noise level attributed to each traffic type. Motorcycles are figured to register a certain decible level as are trucks, buses, cars and so on. We figure out what the expected traffic mix on a given street will be and design for that. In some areas we replace windows with fixed pane windows and install central air conditioners for people on louder routes. On some routes we put up noise barriers.
If people start making noisier cars, more barricades and higher barricades will be along the sides of our roads. Enough people have to live concrete walls in their back yards as it is. You Car doesn't justify the expense or the inconvienience of building more of them.
The second reason you deserve the noise ticket (and a motorcycle does not) is that when an ambulance comes up behind you and your exhaust is screaming while you listen to the New Kids on The Block through a pounding stereo, you haven't got a snowball's chance in hell of hearing it. That means people will die because your souped car sounds cool. Ditto for fire trucks and police cars.
Since motorbikes aren't enclosed, noise travels to the driver differently, and they can hear to get out of the way.
As for the plate portion of your ticket - the fees we pay for that portion of the license is what is used to pay for the maintenance, design, and construction of our roads. You pay your $50 each year, I'll pay mine. You don't pay it, then keep off my roads. The cop was probably looking at the missing sticker on the license plate. I think that you forgot to mention that.
The third Ticket is just plain common sense. As has been stated earlier, taking two lanes at once is beyond the expectations of other drivers on the road, and to the cop probably looked like a kid trying to get out of paying a ticket for a missing sticker on his license plate. Try to evade the cops and they will nail you every time.
You can see things your way, this is my view, and one you won't see often. Return to your flames now.

there will be no flaming for you nova, you have backed up your opinions fully without the need for rediculous comments! These are the type of posts i appreciate and prefer if you have a bias over such ideas.
Although the tickets have been delt with (as far as i know of), this thread has made me realize a few things ... people can say what they want, but if one were to talk in such disgust, generally no one wants to hear it unless proven. Another thing is that when making a point from your opinion, not all of society will agree upon it, thats what makes us different and unique. Opinion is opinion and should not be forced upon anyone.
There were numerous points about Hondas and any other import cars, if you dont like them and think they are useless, they are popular and respected becuase they are reliable, solid and tweakable vehicles. Having a muscular 8+ cylender car doesnt make an inline 4 inferior, they are tuned and perform differenty.
