The down votes are wicked now that this thread has been merged. Maybe they should remove the votes that went against not being able to renew, considering that you can do that using the cancel and activate new account method now.

And I don't get how some voted that this is not a good price. If this is not a good price, then what is that is realistic and not some rare flash deal or clerical error? I'd seriously like to know.

For QC, just called Virgin best offer is 25/10 mbps for 40$ a month (10$ discount good for 12months) and includes free modem/router/installation. I tried to sign with Carrytel but best they could offer was 39.99$ for 25mbps and they charge you a 49$ deposit for the modem + you have to buy/bring your own router + they charge you a 69$ processing fee. Virgin is the clear winner for us people in QC

Is this what they are doing? Why would they have the need to do a hard credit check rather than a soft? Isn't hard related to credit cards and loans?

No. Virgin will use the cached result from your first account creation.

Currently on phone with VM. Just spoke to CSR "Goldy" to see if my offer from last year could be extended. She said this was not possible. I suggested cancel and open new account as described here. She implied this was dishonest and violated terms. I said this was absurd and asked to be transferred to supervisor. Have now been on hold for 45 minutes listening to cheesy music. Thinking she might have forwarded me to get-lost-land. Will probably hang up soon...

I really wonder if Virgin is planning a large price increase like $10 per month cause they have made the “prices may increase during subscription” very obvious on their website.

This is a guaranteed discount for $30 off the $60 regular price, not a guaranteed price.

Rogers has done this on their 24 month 500u promos. $13 price increase in about 1 year through the promo.

Call back, ask to cancel, they will forward you to the right people.

Probably not, but if they do, so what? You aren't in a contract, you can always switch.

Stop worrying about it.

In that case, forget my thoughts about the down votes. I thought it was easier than that considering the other posts I read. My mistake.

For those trying to cancel / renew... :
- call in 1 (888) 999-2321
- ask to cancel your internet because your current promotion is expired / expiring / etc.. and there is the $32.50 offer from Fido for 75Mbs service
* they should then transfer you to customer relations *
- explain the same thing to them.

A) they will say ok, when would you like to cancel - set it up and move to Fido
B) they will honour the $30 for 12 more months

I am with Rogers 500u for $29.99/mon. After only 5 months, they increase it to $32.99 from this month. They said I was only protected for the discount for one year and not the price. So I will also move to Virgin because for 500u, I never get the speed over 80u.
