For those who have been following this discussion, how often does the 5040UB go on sale?

Is the 2040 for 519$ the best deal for someone that needs an occasional gaming projector (party games) ?

Can't decide between that and the 3700.

P.s where do you guys get your lamps?
The lamp for the 2048 seems to cost 30$ while the 3700 is around 70$ on eBay

I'm looking at the 2040 also.

I bought one during Amazon Prime Day for 649 and wondering if the $130 savings is worth going with the refurbished model?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Epson gives full warranty on refurbished items.
And they always put a new bulb in. No reason not to get one at a discount

2030 and 3500 are on sale today.

459, and 1000$ respectively

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the 3500$, but I'm wondering how it compares to the Optima GT1080Darbee (from Costco)

Both are in the same price range, but the Optima has a significantly better lumen rating

Ordered the 3100 for $919 plus tax. Couldn't resist since Costco is still selling them for $1800. I know that the blacks won't be best in class but really hoping the projector is a nice upgrade from my failing HD33. Due to arrive next Thursday. Would greatly appreciate any input from people that have bought the 3100 or 3700.

Is 2040 good at fairly lit rooms or require dark room? I am asking because its only 2200 lumens

I have a 2040 and use it in a room with large windows and no curtains well before it's dark out, and the picture is great. It's even "ok" in full daylight, though not ideal. It's a "video" projector rather than dedicated theatre room projector so really made for a range of environments.

Perfect, that helps a lot. I think I will go ahead and order one. Any recommendation for a carrying bag

If you google, you'll find Epson rebate center.

I ordered an Epson 2040 (refurbished), and then I sent in the form today (mail in rebate). They give a replacement bulb.

Purchase by end of September. Postmark by end of October.

No input on 3100 from anyone? Mine's due to arrive Thursday and I can't wait since my HD33 is shutting down every hour or less while trying to watch stuff.
