3rd party teeth straightening services - smiledirectclub/candid/etc

Seeing more commercials for these services lately. I understand they don't fix everything full braces or Invisalign would do, but at fraction of those costs, has anyone used them to straighten the gap(s) in their teeth?

Forbes article in May about them:

Would like first hand experiences from fellow RFD'ers, if possible.

Thanks!

Aligners such as invisaline will "straighten" your teeth yes, but if you have some teeth that are too high up, it will not pull them down like braces do. so you are still left with straight teeth, but you will still have some ghetto teeth that are up high, my buddy tried this and nothing he can do

For sure this is for minor gap closing with relatively straight teeth and slight overbite and not total re-alignment that would require full braces; but at a fraction of the cost (believe these run ~$2300CDN) you're still saving at least a few thousand by doing the treatments at home on your own.

(Not sure if it would be covered by private insurance though.)
