3WEB Cable Service (ISP) your experience?
Hello everyone.
I'm just wondering if anyone is a 3web customer using their CABLE HI-speed service. The question pertains to stability and also usability.
Basically, are you getting good speeds? Also, since they are leasing from ROGER's line, are you also affected with the bandwidth limit (60gb now/month?)
Lastly, if you are using torrents, are you still experiencing the throttling effect, which is the same effect you'll see if you were subscribed under rogers?
your thoughts and comments please and thanks.

Since rogers supposedly includes the modem rental in their price, do you have to pay extra for the modem since you're with 3web?

My good buddy has CABLE 3web and does 550kb/s off the newsgroups no problem, he's also a large torrent user I'm pretty sure and he's never been warned of any excessive cap use
As soon as my friggin contract with Rogers is done I'm definitely making the switch.
I can't stand Rogers, those crooks

Modem rental is $5 a month for 3Web, on top of whatever their pricing for hi-speed package.
I swithced from Rogers to 3Web about a month ago. Speed- and performace-wise, I can't notice any difference. Consistently getting 300+kB/s down. However, the switch was not without its vintage 3Web bruhaha and it took over a month to complete the entire switch over, after too many phone calls to incompetent CSRs at billing, as well as low level tech support.
But once it's all said and done, it's been a smooth sailing so far. Like many others had already cautioned, if nothing goes wrong, 3Web is good. If you need billing or tech support, you are in for a nightmare. Caveat Emptor.

Switched over from rogers to 3web yesterday. Didn't notice any speed difference. Same stuff, just lower price. I'm happy with it. Fire away if you have any questions.

Do they throttle Bittorrent or P2P connections too?

They do. Essentially it's Rogers' line anyway

In light of Rogers dropping usenet I was enticed to switch... so I called 3web and apparently there is a 30gb/mth cap for cable? I'd switch to DSL but I think my phone line is fubar, it can't keep connected and bell doesn't know if it'd be free to fix, so I went back to Rogers. Should I switch to 3web?

been with them for almost a year. I was told to keep it under 300 gigs / month. thats what I have done. 600kb/s all the time. no problems here. I bought the modem and it took about 1 week to get all setup. but once it was connected its been 100% since then. i pay $39.99 a month. i switched cause shaw kept on cutting me off for anything over 100gigs/month.... hope this helps.

Did anyone come to set you up? or did you just disconnect the modem from Shaw and connect 3web's modem. How much "fees" did you pay other that the monthly charge, to connect?
