Surprised so many in here seem to agree with the idea of blowing the robbers face off.... is that what we're into now, vigilante justice?
I also like how everyone assumes that everyone in the "thug" group is equally culpable without knowing *ANY* of the details of the incident. For all you know any number of the other three could have been forced to go along with the gunman, or might have not even known of the robbery, you have literally no idea what happened. since the article is so light on details.
I wonder, why he felt he had to shoot all 4 guys when only one had a gun? Surely the other 3 would have taken off or cowered in fear after killing the first guy? Or he could have just shot them in the leg?
I would hope he would at least get a manslaughter charge for gunning down an unarmed man that posed no threat to him, yes I would.
That's a lot of guarantees. You must be from the psychic hotline.

Decide that maybe you want to rob someone at gunpoint but have to remember that the old lady walking by might have a gun and shoot you first.
Sure if everyone had guns there would be the potential for more violence and there would still be need for screening and proper licensing & safety but everyone is on the same playing field again, not just the police and criminals that have the power.
It's the same reason why all the countries with nukes don't actually intend on ever using them.

it's pretty hard to feel sorry for them when they've been given so many chances (given their history in the article)
if Gus didn't do it, someone was bound too

Life is about choices, these people really suck at the game of life. If the old dude gets convicted, it is still a victory. He's happy he did it his way and his sacrafice will benefit others by helping those who make bad decisions, make the right one or end up in a pine box without a face.

The problem with having guns is that most people are not all that smart, and lack common sense.
Do you think everyone will respect the gun enough, and like Gus, only use it in a life or death situation? No way. You'd get people pulling guns during small disagreements at the bar, after road rage incidents, after being looked at the wrong way etc.

The perp's got what they deserved and then somebody wanted to mourn outside the place they tried to hold up? Stupid people. He should've shot that person as well.

Damn skippy. It's the mentally unstable idiots packing guns that bother me. I don't approve of the use of deadly force in this situation, but I can't say I feel terribly sorry for the criminals.

Or they go in shooting first next time.

Crime is statistically a rare event, but impaired people, dumb people, potential accidents occur in far greater ammount.
That's why no one should have guns, and if we didn't have to cater laws for legitimate users, we'de have much better control and thereby criminals would have less guns. Criminals buy and steal guns from legitimate users.
