i don't think that you can combine exemptions like that, so you would only be exempt 400 on the tv

46" LCD HDTV through the Canada/US border?
Just wondering if anyone has carried an LCD HDTV from the US back to Canada? If so, how much were you taxed? I mean there is no way you can lie about a 46" TV.
MAIN QUESTION:
I will be heading to the states for 3 days with my family. So 3 days means our tax exemption would be $400/person. Now there are 4 of us going, so the total tax exemption would be $1600 and the HDTV I want is only $1100US...so NO TAX on the HDTV?

I agree with 5abSingh.
I also don't think you can split one item into four like you plan to do._______________

Exemptions CANNOT in any way, shape or form be combined.

While you're down there, also buy an inverter so that you can plug it into your car cigarette socket. That way you can claim on the way back that the 46" TV was with you on the way to the USA and is used to keep your ADD children distracted.

When we went to new york for 5 days we had bought a tv and was bringing it back. It was a family of 4 (4 x $400 = $1600) and when at customs he asked whats the total value of goods and we said $1500.
Then he let us go
