Just saw this deal on the TigerDirect.ca website. It is supposed to be priced at $899.99 originally but is up for grabs at $469.99. Is it a good deal?

spec is a little out of date. It's really an ultrabook from 2011 with a slower processor and regular HHD.
the biggest flaw I see is the battery life. 4 hours.
However, if you are buying it for someone who is going to have it plugged in all the time and use it for surfing. It sure beat a tablet at home.
Damnit, I'm attempted to get this for my parents. This is Father's Day.

Agreed that it's a little out of date, however I'm tempted by the value for money. It is normally priced at $899 and is at the moment only at $469.99.
I'm a university student who needs a laptop primarily for word processing, internet browsing, and using STATA statistical software.
I was also looking at the following laptop which on a deal at Best Buy as well. Not sure about whether to go small with the LENOVO at that price or spend a little more and get a full spec 15.6 ASUS.

do you want to carry that around in your backpack? LOL
now... have you looked into Lenovo x220?? much better built quality and there is a huge thread dedicated to it (search for Lenovo EPP), I personally used the older model of it (the x200) through my university time.

why I like the thinkpad series better? - much better battery-life (9 hours-12 hours), you would appreciate that when you are on campus
- better processing power and bigger harddrive and lighter
- better built quality (no need to worry about spills)
YOu will need to pay a little more, but I personally think it's worth it
