That's a very slow drive - Read: Up to 28 MB/s; Write: Up to 10 MB/s

For the space it's somewhat a good price range but for the performance I'd look elsewhere.

Just because it's usb3 means nothing. 28 read 10 write is horrid. Would definitely pass on this.

#1) it is actually $45 even better.

#2) Staples no longer gives %10, only price matching

I dont think this is news anymore: Staples do not price 'beat'.

They will only MATCH it, so it makes no difference if you buy it from Staples or BB.

These performance numbers are so-so, even by USB 2.0 standards. Without outstanding R/W performance, it is really painful to write 10GB+ to one of these BIG drives.

(Like watching paint dry ....)

High performance units will do R/W 30MB/s (USB 2.0) and R/W 60MB/s (USB 3.0). You need these speeds to transfer 10GB within a decent time.

Something like this (outstanding performance ... worth the extra $ - actually good price for it.)

Buy it from Staples if you have a coupon code.

Buy it from Bestbuy if you collect reward points

Or just buy it from the site with free shipping if it saves you $$$ on Gas..

Sorry, i didnt know Staples did not price match anymore.
On the best buy site it sais:
Maximum Data Transfer Rate Read: Up to 28 MB/s; Write: Up to 10 MB/s

On staples site it sais:
Speeds up to 3x faster (up to 45MB/s read and 20MB/s write) than standard JumpDrive USB 2.0 drives

which is it. anyone know ?

Can anyone explain the discrepancy in read/write speeds between the BestBuy site (28/10) and the Staples site (45/20)? Also the warranty (Best Buy - 2 years, Staples - 3 years) - when both are manufacturer's warranty. Either these are not the same drive or some of it is wrong information. The Lexar web site shows it as 45/20 with a 3 year warranty - so it looks like Staples has it right.

200 read, 120 write

$22 more (or less depending on province you reside)
time it will save you transferring large files: priceless
Damnit, talked myself into buying one with PM at MemExp. $68 shipped tax paid.

According to the official specifications, its the latter - "Upto 45MB/s read and 20MB/s write".

While I agree that this is fairly slow, esp. considering the size (the larger the drive the more important the speed is IMO), but the Patriot Supersonic at $100 is a bit out there. At that price you may as well buy a 60/64GB SSD and put it in an enclosure. Sure it's not as small/convenient but would be much faster and still probably cost less even after the enclosure.

Damn good price considering it's like a Mini-SSD USB drive, and 60+GB SSD's go for that price. 200MB/s > 28MB/s... what's the point of USB3 if it won't make a difference (all marketing BS).

I can confirm that you get about 18-20MB/s write speed with the drive, haven't tested out the read speeds though. Its $45 for a decent 64GB, did you guys really expect better at the price?

With most of the good ones being $75+, $45 seems pretty good :)
