65watt HP Notebook AC Adapter
for some reason my AC Adapter for my notebook doesn't work. i believe one of the wires inside the cable may have come loose or something because the adapter works at certain angles. is there anywhere where i can buy one for cheap? HP's website sells them but they are expensive.
online or in store is ok, preferably in store though.
thanks

Try a six-figure salary that starts with a "3" (that would be annually)

You can get them fairly cheap off fleabay (about $20 delivered).
If you know somebody who has a laptop that uses a similar adapter, you might want to try it in your computer first to make sure it is the plug and not the power jack. A lot of laptops have problems with the soldering of the power jack which causes similar problems. It's a lot more difficult to repair the power jack.

Deal Extreme has a bunch of generic ones with multi-ends that are reasonably priced, if you don't mind waiting 2-4 weeks for delivery.

would it harm my computer/battery in any way by using a non-hp adapter?

Deal Extreme has some pretty sweet deals but I've also heard complaints about shipping.

You will destroy your laptop if the polarity is reversed or of a different voltage of the different ac adapter.

A lot of them on fleabay are HP/Compaq or Liteon. I would have no qualms buying a Liteon as some laptop manufacturers use Liteon AC adapters e.g. Asus

Bring it to the maintenance department for your school. Likely someone there will fix it for free.
