6800gt but no display

my friend has my gainward 6800gt golden sample and he recently just installed it but for some strange reason he is getting no display showing, hes using the vga adaptor and it doesnt work on mine either

anyone know whats wrong?

and it turns out that eeprom has been erased and so he got a copy of the the bios from gainwards site and he tryed to flash the card using nvflash, and hes getting errors like

supported eeprom not found

and

mismatch in 128 byte page-made programming

and he checked the version of current bios and he found that it was unavailable and its invalid

is there anyway to RMA without the reciept? cause i purchased this off someone and he never gave me a reciept
