9900k availability

It seems like MSRP is only available on backorder from shady stores like pc-canada, vuugo, softwarecity. Newegg has one in stock for a $100 more, which makes if almost a $1k CPU after tax (Americans complain about a 500 pricetag lol).

Would you give your hard earned money to a noname website and wait for a month?

Glad I got mine before the price hike and I didn't even have to wait long.

My one comment is that it's foolish to invest in the 9900K at this time. Ryzen 2 is going to be released soon, and everything I have read about it has been extremely positive.

The 9900K runs hot. For the right workload it's amazing. But for most gamers the extra 2 cores will make zero difference aside from all the heat they generate and also the overclocking headroom they take away.

If you're gaming the 9700k is the better choice.

Isn't Ryzen 2700X = Ryzen 2?

This is for video editing, with the use of Intel Quick Sync too.

The 2700x is a Ryzen refresh, not Ryzen 2.

There is no Ryzen 2. There's Ryzen 3, 5, 7, and Threadripper.

You guys are confusing processor [brand] names with architecture names.

Ryzen with model numbers in the 1xxx range are Zen [1]
Ryzen with model numbers 2xxxG are Zen with "Vega Graphics" (APUs)
Ryzen with model numbers 2xxx are Zen+

Upcoming Ryzen models will be Zen 2.
