I bought the PCMCIA version, and unfortunately it is the second (B1) version and comes with the Marvel chipset. Version 1 (A) uses the ACX111 from TI.

My first impression for the PCMCIA card: the casing is too flimsy. I can press down on it and the plastic antenna housing would collapse. And the antenna housing seems to be longer than other cards that I have seen.

But the intenal hardware should be the same as the Netgear WG511 v2 (same Marvel chipset). So I can use Netgear's firmware (which is probably better than Trendnet's) and their wireless configuration software. Not that I would need it since it Windows XP does a better job.

It seems to detect WPA2 as WEP, so perhaps WPA2 is not possible on this card, or maybe a new firmware will enable the functionality?

I've heard rave reviews of the cheapy trendnet USB wifi adapters here on RFD. Haven't seen one bad review by somebody who has actually purchased one...

1st. correct me if i'm wrong, those dont support WAP (only WEP)
2. i personally think the software that came with it is pretty ugly
*i'm comparing to the asante PCMCIA card I got from tigierdirect.ca
*comparing to the tigerdirect.ca motorola G usb adapter

my advice, add a 10$ more and get a "G" model...I think you will feel safer with WAP
