hm to be honest...it doesn't seem like you've broken the law at all...
the only payment you would probably have to make is to the tow truck i believe...
the OPP was there as far as i can tell to divert the traffic and i guess its their duty to keep the roads safe for both you and other drivers right?
i guess if you really want to be safe, just phone the OPP and explain your situation...but i see no reason for any charges from the OPP

About accident on QEW/Niagara yesterday
hi folks,
Yesterday while I was driving towards niagara, I decided to stop at timmy's for quick break and when we get back on road, on the ramp, which merge to qew I slipped into the ditch. Passenger side was facing toward wet mud downhill. And driver side were facing uphill.
I was driving with 3 of my other small cousins (7,9,11y/olds). Fortunately, no one hurt, we managed to get out of car with help of other 2 fellow canadians. Hats off to them (damn, i wasn't one of them earlier days, now I know to pull over if some in need of help).
yea then cops came in, called the tow truck who came like 2 hrs later, remember this was at noon in qew/niagara, to be exact it was on exit #57. (IT WAS ONE OF THE HOTTEST DAY).
Tow truck finally arrived and pulled the car from ditch. Fortunately passenger side were all muddy heavily only(I guess). The car started really fine and seemed no other issue while I drove to/from cherry pickups.
i had never received any speeding/driving ticket so far yet. The OPP.Officer said "u r ready to leave now". I took the car and gone for car wash at exit#58 i guess. OPP didn't say anything to me.
Now my question is, would I get ticket or something over mail? or whats the worst thing or good thing I did? anything I forgot to mention about this accident, please reply with questions??

I don't understand why he should call the OPP. If he was going to be charged, he would have been charged on the spot. Why call and invite trouble?

OP, perhaps you should consider taking more driving lessons.
I know that nobody likes to be criticized, but there's absolutely no reason for someone to simply fall into a ditch. You could have seriously hurt one of those young kids who were in the car with you._______________

I'm a State Farm agent. If the cop didn't issue you a ticket on scene, they can't just mail you one so you're ok as far as that is concerned.
Although, if I was the officer, I probably would have issued you a careless driving ticket. Vehicles just don't fall into ditches, especially with 3 small children in it, geez, pay more attention out there. Reply With Quote

as soon as I made the accident... I was shocked of the accident and was tring to calm down...but with in minutes, couple of while ppl pulled over and helped us get out of the vehicle.... and also made a call to 911 to get some help... Originally Posted by Anonymouse

how did i hit the ditch? well... i was distracted by my cousin who was sitting in passenger seat... one of my cousin were having ice cap from timmy's and spilled few around/on him... and I tried to pass the tissue box from the side while taking a turn, which merge into qew... vola, next thing is i found myself into the ditch... I don't think you needed 911's help on this one. Unless one of the kids was seriously hurt, you wasted 911 operators time and the officers time. Should have called *OPP if you really think you needed an officer. Next time just call a tow truck.
