Accidentally attempted international wire transfer to Tangerine

I had a family member from Korea attempt to wire transfer me some money from Korea a couple weeks ago. I later found out that Tangerine cannot accept international wire transfer.

I have contacted Tangerine but they are telling me they cannot do anything about it.

I have had the family member cancel the wire transfer, but he has not gotten the money back yet.

At this point, I am starting to panic a little since I am not sure what to do to get the money back.

What should I do?

Don't know if it has changed, but I used to receive international wire in my tangerine account. The only thing is I must sent in CAD.

At a main bank? If you're going with one of the big five, open a basic savings account and receive funds there. You can link to Tangerine via micro-deposits. Those savings accounts generally allow one free withdrawal per month.

I think Tangerine/ING Direct used to accept inbound wire transfers, but they stopped a while ago.

Thanks Airodyssey. Fortunately I use Transferwise since many years :)
