The RSX type S is not in the same category as the IS250.
It should be TSX vs IS250.
If your budget is under $40,000 thne the IS250 is out of you price range. Unless u want just the base model on the IS250 out the door price is about $45000.

Acura RSX TypeS or Lexus IS 250 RWD
I'm in the process of purchasing a new car. I'm debating on which one to get. I know that the 2 cars are totally different and not in the same class. I really like them both.
2006 Acura RSX TypeS
($33,400 CAD MSRP),
Pros: less $$$ to purchase, better milage, iVTEC engine, lower finance rate @ 2.8%
Cons: last year of production, 6 yr old technology, FWD (debatable)
http://www.acura.ca/AcuraEng/Models/RSX/InfoNav.htm
2006 Lexus IS250 RWD manual w/ moonroof and leather package
($39,900 CAD MSRP)
Pros: Its a LEXUS, V6 engine, RWD, higher torque, more luxuries and goodies,
Cons: more expensive, cost more for gas, higher finance rate @ 4.8%
http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...262M&year=2006
What do you guys think? My budget is under $40,000. I prefer to buy Japanese cars. Any other suggestions?
Edited:
My requirements: Both cars are within my price range but if I get the TypeS than more $$$ for other electronic goodies, I want it to be luxurious but at the same time fun to drive, cost of gas is high so I want something that is not a gas guzzler, nice performance so I can merge into the highway when I go on my roadtrips to the States and I can't think of anything else right now. Basically, I think both cars offers a unique combination of these charteristics that is why it is hard to decide which one is better.Last edited by GeneralCho; Jun 9th, 2006 at 12:00 PM.

Lexus in my opinion. More refined, better torque, better overall performance.
Gas will not be that much more as the RSX is not the most economical 4 cylinder.
It will cost more than 40k and I'm not sure how much you can haggle with Lexus these days._______________

Jun 9th, 2006 11:38 AM #4Yes, I know that the 2 cars are not in the same category. I mentioned it on the first 2 sentences. At the same time, I like them both. I rather buy the RSX TypeS than TSX. I was not talking about the Out the Door Price. I was refering more to the MSRP or before tax price. That is why I also listed the MSRP for each car.

I have a sneaking suspicion you'll see a lot of Lexus recommendations...

Jun 9th, 2006 11:42 AM #6I know. My friend mentioned that both Toyota and Lexus are not budging with their sticker price. I must agree with you... the Lexus is probably a better choice although it has 4 doors but it still looks sporty and refined at the same time.

I'd say these are quite different cars.
IS250 is more luxury despite Lexus attempt at making it look like a "sports" car. The weight will probably soak up the extra torque.
RSX-S a younger car, still very nice inside.
Pick what you want, everyone here will ***** and moan about different things that don't really matter in the end. At the end of the day you're the one stuck driving it every day.

Jun 9th, 2006 11:52 AM #9Thanks for your advice. But it so hard to decide. I been wanting to buy a RSX TypeS for a couple years now and all of a sudden Lexus comes out with the IS 250 and IS 350 for 2006. The reason I like TypeS is because it is a fun car to drive and because it is still an Integra at heart. Yes, I really like my Integra.

I think if you add some options to the IS250 it'll get quite a bit more expensive than the RSX ... goto lexus.ca and build one for yourself ... but if I was getting a base model than I'd get the lexus ... but thats my choice, get the car you would wanna drive
... go test drive both and fnd out
...

Jun 9th, 2006 12:09 PM #12The only option that I am going to add is the Moonroof and Leather Package and it brings the price to $39,900 CAD.

Jun 9th, 2006 01:18 PM #15I would buy the RSX then. My friend has the RSX-S. It's a great car. Interior is nice. It has creature comforts, but it's also nimble and quick. He's turbo'd it, so the FWD kinda sucks.

Anyways, again, quite different cars, and if you're a big fan of the Integra, I'd get the RSX-S, it's a great successor. The 6 speed transmission is very slick, and since you're use to winding the **** out of the engine to get power from your old integra, you'll be happy with the 8k redline on the RSX-S
