Add 'cuck' to the bad word filters

Is it possible to add 'cuck' to the bad word filters?

‘Cuck’: a modern swear word that’s as dirty as the old ones
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/cu ... e33876354/
At the moment, "cuck" is only derisive to the social-media-savvy minority who recognize the profound ugliness of its meaning. But make no mistake, it's a full-blown first-degree swear. The kind of word that will, in the near future, end marriages and friendships and get high-school students expelled. It's heavy and dirty and it's deeply hateful. I would never say it. And I'm a person who loves to swear.

The derogatory connotations of "cuck" make it every bit as offensive as all those other words that can't actually be printed here. Think of it as your new all-purpose racist, sexist super-slur. A bad word invented by bad men for the purposes of humiliating and shaming the good men among us into renouncing their tolerance and decency. What a charming development in the linguistic evolution of our species.

But surely no one in Canada would use such a word. Everyone knows we're culturally disposed to be polite. And that we don't have a problem with angry, hateful white men nurturing murderous thoughts about … oh wait. Never mind.

Don't know. The admins whitelisted shit and people have seemed to find ways to use it appropriately with an understanding that if it was used in a deragatory way, it would be addressed accordingly.

How about calling someone a cuckold?

It can be offensive I would guess.

The word “shit” can be a noun that refers to a non-human object. It can be used to refer to the specific item, e.g., “He shit on the floor.”

It can be used in a favourable way, “That dope was good shit.”

It can also be a verb that does not attach to a characteristic of a person. “He shit on the lawn.”

It can be used as a metaphor to refer to a person, as in “He is shit”. I presume that would be an offensive use.

In contrast, ”cuck” is a noun that always refers to a person and always does so in a derogatory sense.

Even a term like “son of a bitch”, often used in a derogatory sense can be used in an amiable sense. A person might describe a friend, acquaintance or adversary admiringly as being “a trough son of a bitch”.

I cannot think of a time when I have seen the word cuck (or its derivatives like “cuckservative”) used in anything but a strongly and offensively way. It is used to denigrate males who espouse or demonstrate socially responsible values such as gender equality, racial equality, etc.
Earthlings, you're evicted.

I think people need to use good judgement when it comes to their use of language and if we deem it necessary to action someone's post, we would do so. In fact, I'd probably prefer that the word not be filtered so that if someone does use it, we can action it accordingly rather than having their foul language hide behind a filter. Filtering every new word that comes up doesn't seem like a good use of anyone's time. The filter has the majority of words in it that matter. I suppose if @TomRFD wants to add this word to the filter, he will do so. But I think threads like these cause more issues than they try to resolve.

I should add, I did a forum wide search for the word cuck. It has been used few times, mostly in OT. Not saying the word is acceptable; but I also don't see the forum erupting into chaos beyond what normally happens in OT (which is something being improved on by the admins in the very near future).

I agree with WorldIRC, this seems like a solution in search of a problem.

Yeah I'm not big on the word but I also don't think its very useful to get it banned. Anyone who throws it around casually leaves me with a questionable impression about them. I'm willing to give them benefit of the doubt but it's not helpful in a debate if your throwing it around so casually because they want to get someone "triggered". If they're purposely muddying the conversation by using that word then I'm more apt to warn the user to tone it down.

Exactly. Speed bumps don't slow people down, speed traps with tickets and points (usually) do.

Banning words now? How Orwellian...

Cuckold isn't offensive, it's like calling someone divorced. It's a matter of fact, men do get cuckolded.
Also there is cuck porn, it's a sexual preference for many (not sure why).

Cuck/old is independent of race.

I think you need to look up how it's been twisted by people on the extreme right of the political spectrum. I'm not suggesting it should be filtered, but there is only 1 intention by the people who use it on this site, and that is as a personal attack, there should be zero tolerance by the mods when it's used.
