Additional free space up to 4.5GB at Dropbox.

Here's what I did to get my space -- not sure if it's the most efficient way or not, but it worked for me. I didn't have a USB memory larger than 4GB and notice everyone saying you just need to insert some media with a DCIM folder with some picture files. So, I basically created a disc image with a DCIM folder with one 5GB .jpg file and mounted it using Virtual CloneDrive.

1. Install the dropbox from the link in the first message.
2. Install ImgBurn (program to burn CD/DVD or make CD/DVD images) and Virtual CloneDrive (just another virtual CD/DVD drive emulator) - both free programs that are quite handy (I already had them installed).
3. Run Command Prompt in Adminstrator mode and typed "fsutil file createnew C:\bigpicture.jpg 5000000000" [thanks Drizzt] - basically it makes a 5GB file.
4. Run ImgBurn and "Create image file from files/folders" - then make a DCIM folder in the image and add the 5GB file to it from step 3. Build the image -- you will run into some error saying you need to change some settings before you can burn, make the changes and build.
5. Mount your image you just made using Virtual Clone drive.

Dropbox should notice you just inserted some media with a DCIM folder and try to look for files to import. It will see your 5GB file and attempt to upload it to their servers. You might need to wait a awhile for the message your Dropbox has been upgraded. Go to your Dropbox\Camera Uploads folder and delete the bigpicture.jpg file to stop it from uploading once you see you've been upgraded.

Just tried this but no prompt comes up for Dropbox....

Awesome! this worked for me last night. However instead it told me my box was full, so I restarted dropbox and my space showed it increased. Then went on to delete the file etc etc

You need the latest version of dropbox, someone already posted the link in this thread.

I did some more testing, and there is definitely a problem with renaming files... There are some files of mine it's renaming even though they have completely unique names.

I guess we'll have to wait for a bug fix on this one.

The .13 build (which I had to use to fix the RAW file crashing problem of .12) renamed all of my images - all 5 GB of them. I don't really care, since I just deleted them anyway.

You also need to upload video to max out the 5 GB bonus. I only got 4.5 GB for 5.5 GB of photos, but when I upped a 530 MB video, it awarded me the last 500 MB. I suspect it works the other way around if you've used video files to get the 4.5. They want to test out both formats.

I cannot get autoload to come up and show the photos and hence the prompt to use dropbox

I had previously disabled all Auto-Run options (in Control Panel) for security reasons and had to change them so this would work.

Ah you fixed it at $0.25 CPC? Which keywords? I definitely received some signups as well, but hitting my budget and around ~$60 spent with more referrals still needed! I currently paused the campaign

I maxed out my referrals with about $24 used also added a .edu email and got 500mb for each referral total at 25.9gbs

Actually you didn't. Just bring up the drive's property sheet, select AutoPlay options..., then click Import pictures and videos using Dropbox. That enables AutoPlay just for Dropbox and just this one time. It's all you need to get the 5GB bonus without having to open up AutoPlay to everything else.

Tried this and no luck. I select Autoplay just for dropbox, apply changes and save. Remove USB stick and put back and no auto play

I've never tried to save the setting. I've only used it on a one-off basis to get my Dropbox bonus. Normally I use Dropbox the conventional way to move files around and have AutoPlay totally disabled.

does your computer have a built in slot for camera cards? what I did was record a really long video with my camera, then I put the sd card in the slot on the computer, and dropbox detected it and I let it upload the large video file for half a minute, then deleted the file from the dropbox folder and got my space increase that way
