You missed out bro. CT sold aerogarden for ~$55 a couple weeks ago.

It came with a starter kit: thyme, basil, chives. Just planted them a 3 days ago and they are sprouting!

The $130 one has 6 slots, while your $55 one is still $55 as of today with 3 slots.

It's easier to use Aerogarden seed pods than to adapt your seeds to their pods.
However, Aerogarden has a pod available for inserting your own seeds. I don't know if Can Tire has it.
The company's seed pods are proven; other seeds may not be as successful.
My unit is built well enough to last.
However once a year it must be cleaned out and rinsed with mild bleach solution. Much like cleaning a scummy aquarium.
The other caveat is bulbs: the Aerogarden tubes are their own with a special mount, and last 6 months; after that the color temperature goes off. I don't know what CT charges for tubes, but they are expensive ordering from Colorado.
It will be a good gift for a cook or salad maven.

They have the bulbs listed here 24.99 for two, how much did you have to pay for them from Colorado?

I was looking at this for a while and I guess $130 for a 6 podder sounds like an okay deal. Maybe I'll get it for my mom. I don't think it'll grow scotch bonnets though, she'll have to settle for herbs and lettuce.

It'll grow roses. But eventually this machine will be too short and you'll hve to transplant it outside or to a pot

I still have my original bulbs but need to replace. Aero sent me one in the mail when I had a failure on warranty.

The four finger bulb with this base is used in some reading lamps, but I don't think the color temp. is the same. There must be a cheaper source somewhere.
