Absolutely. I've done it on several occasions, no problems whatsoever.

As others have mentioned, you can. The only time you can't is if you're a Super Elite and want to use instant KK to book someone else an international J ticket without booking the same reward ticket for yourself as well.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but is it still true that you can buy a ticket for someone else with your Aeroplan points (without doing the $0.02/mile transfer to the traveler's Aeroplan account)?

I have used aeroplan points for tickets for my Wife, my Mother and my Daughter. Just enter their name on the ticket.

I have a few questions (sorry to hijack but looks like the Ops question has been addressed). I have never booked a flight with Aeroplan.
- I will be using someone else’s points, I assume if we call to book – the card holder needs to do the bookings
- I understand there is a fee for calling aeroplan, are more flights available by calling (rather than online)
- Say you call to inquire about flight availability and do not book – will you be charged the fee
Don’t know if this is relevant or not but booking to Orlando (Sept) if anyone has any tips
THANKS!

Here is a tip for anyone wanting to book reward travel within the Star Alliance network(Air Canada incl.)...
Sign up for the ANA frequent flyer program online...and use their search engine to find award availabilities for all the airlines within the Star Alliance network..
Great tool to use to plan for multi-leg trips, especially those mini-RTW's.
Sometimes I find that tool to be even more accurate than Air Canada's own search engine.

My apologies for resurrecting this thread, however I have a relevant question:
for those who you use your Aeroplan points to book their ticket with, does the privileges of your Elite/Super Elite status also extend toward them for that trip? For example, priority boarding, MLL access, and/or most importantly, free check-in luggage?_______________
