Why do people bother donating money to African charities when they themselves practice entirely non-essential habits that contribute to the suffering of Third World countries? For example people eat meat while trying to reduce famine in Third World countries. The consumption of meat is a main reason why staples like rice, wheat, and even water are so expensive. The calorie conversion from wheat to beef is very inefficient. So the difference between the amount of calories produced through wheat on an acre of land compared to beef like the cost of gas from driving 100Km between a Prius and a Porsche.
The easiest way to help with global warming, poverty, and famine is to become vegetarians. Personally, I'm not a vegetarian but nor do I donate to African charities. At least my beliefs are consistent.

Being vegetarian really wont save the world. Eating less meat here doesn't mean the extra agricultural land will be used to grow food for developing countries. Hell, it doesn't even mean it will be used to grow food. Agricultural land is being used for subdivisions and other projects all the time.
