[Air Canada] Montréal to Shanghai *** Non-Stop *** Round Trip $528 CAD Jan - Feb 2018

Full Service carrier Air Canada
2 checked bags included
Meal and seat selection included
Boeing 787 (3-3-3 configuration)

About 13 h. flight each way

A few dates available between Jan. 16th to Feb 16th.

I bet only a few seats are available and will sell out fast.

Jan - Feb weather in Shangai is a little cold though 4-10 degrees Celsius.

By far the worst time to travel in China if you are not Chinese or are not a seasoned traveler in China.

During CNY, people who work in different cities than their hometown all go home for the CNY break. This means public transportation is maxed out. Here's a video to get a sense:

well the traffic was not that bad....the problem is like Christmas, not many stores will open, and everyone went to their hometown...If you plan to stay in Shanghai, or big cities like Beijing, you would be fine since not many ppl in those cities, and you can actually enjoy..

It is AC mainline, not Rouge
The 3-3-3 787 may as well be Rouge.

Agreed. There will be several disadvantages:
-There will be a lot more people returning to China from other countries
-Due to the festivities, either things will be closed (lot of places that are open every day of the year will otherwise be closed for Chinese New Year for up to a week or so), or
-Things that stay open will raise the prices (think of a premium on food, drinks, hotels, etc)

Have to warn you about the weather also. It will be a humid sort of cold temperature. I was in Shanghai and China during Jan/ Feb and it felt like -10C.

But you also get to see all the festivities, during one of the most celebrated times of the year in China.

Mid week of CNY is great to visit all the tourist attractions due to lack of people as 1) foreigners usually know not to travel to China during CNY 2) not a high season for travelling 3) most Chinese are back in their hometown or visiting friends and relatives instead. I went to the Forbidden City in Beijing several years ago around that time and it was practically empty, and the sky was clear!

The rouge fleet does not have 787s. The 787s are great and pretty much brand new.
