Air Canada: Vancouver to Tokyo Airfare $560 Return Mid to Late May Departures
I've been monitoring this price a while and the fuel surcharges for Japan dropped about $185 cdn each way as of April 1st
The date's I've been looking at were leaving from mid-april and returning late may, Tango Plus airfare of $229 each way from YVR to NRT
Comes out to $600 but if you don't use the Aeroplan option it knocks off $15 each way
EDIT
pretty much anything monday to friday starting may 11th to may 31st and returning in july is 224 each way from YVR
depatures in june are 269 each way
just avoid holiday weekends
i booked may 13th to july 9th for $560 after taxes and knocking off aeroplan

Most dates are sold out. It appears like an OOS deal from Stooples.

Yup, I found some cheaper flights too. However, I would not decline the AP miles for only $30RT savings, as it is such a long flight.

I'm hesitant to book as well because of Air Can's uncertainty. Their CEO resigned the other day as well so that's spurring rumours of a pending bankruptcy.

If you buy with your credit card, you'll be refunded.
I was refunded by mastercard (normal card, nothing shiny) when Zoom Airlines went belly up last fall.
Their policy: if you dont get the good/service you paid foor , you are refunded.
In my case, I had to wait until the day of flgiht was passed to be refunded because they werent bankrupt yet, just under "la loi de la protection des créanciers", which meant they could resurrect any time...

True...but then you're stuck with the issue of having to change all your plans and canceling hotel stays etc.
