Honestly, promo hasn't even started and the thread is 9 pages long. Last years thread was almost 100 pages - as much as one would want to read through others experiences, who has the time to read all the content in these massive threads. Keep it to the point ppl - short and sweet
That’s what the OP & THREAD SUMMARY is for (see page 1)
Key points ... Tips & Tricks

The rest of these threads are for discussion
Sharing experiences etc

Yes and I'm glad @trystee is the OP. As has been mentioned, always does fantastic job keeping OP up to date. Even still, it will be hard to capture everything in the thread summary in terms of tips/tricks

Which partner had a spend $1000 offer in last year's STB?
Wasn’t STB, was another promo I think from Amex/Airmiles. I’m just saying people really need to read the T&C’s and also just because an airmiles rep confirms/clarifies something doesn’t mean they will honor it in the end.

I didn't take this 'seriously' until now and just worked it out on the back of one their envelopes. But I missed a couple promos due to 'life' and now I'm interested enough to Excel this thing.
Can anyone offer up a template?
My own so called Spreadsheet isn’t a Spreadsheet at all
(Although others may use one)

I use a series of notations... because every Offer with AirMiles throughout the year is different

You might want to take a look at my notations from last year’s STB 2017 Topic
They are scattered throughout
air-miles-shop-block-back-nationwide-no ... 41077/150/

But you’ll find the final one... full report / disclosure at Reply # 2246 on Page 150

That’s the format I use consistently for the Annual BIG BONUS Events

Day to day, I just keep a list
DATE - PARTNER - OFFER - PENDING MILES - POSTED MILES - DATE - MISSING MILES - ACTION - RESULT

Day to Day Transactions tend to post correctly... no chasing required
The exceptions would be the occasional Missong Grocery Offer... where I have to email the Store
But Sobey’s, Metro & IGA are usually good at fixing

AirMiles Shops.ca is a lot more work
They have always been hit or miss when it comes to posting correct amounts with Retailers... if at all
To the point now that I have taken Canada Post off my list of Stores to buy from c/o AirMiles Shops.ca

If it was an AMEX AirMiles Offer... then your beef should have been with the Partner
Not AirMiles

Too many folks jump on AirMiles when Miles are missing

You need to start with the FULL Partner first ... as it’s a transaction with them
So their responsibility / books

FULL Partners I have found quite good in fixing Miles I am owed

AirMiles Shops.ca is the only FULL Partner that goes back directly to AirMiles

So when things go off the rails with them... then ya it’s AirMiles to call
Same with Missing BIG BONUS MILES... in those cases AirMiles is responsible for the Big Bonus Miles

Like the recent Pack To School Event
I had my 5 Retailers POST to AirMiles via AirMiles Shops.ca
(Could see them all on my AMs Account)

But instead of 1000 BIG BONUS MILES ... I just got 300

That there was AirMiles RESPONSIBILTY ... and they fixed it
The extra 700 BAMs POSTED without any problems

Thanks I think the extra work for recent promos (eg. Shell/Rexall/Sobey's) highlights the need to be more efficient. Min work:Max gains

Excellent timing. I just fulfilled my spending obligation with my new Amex Air Miles Reserve card, which got me 2,400 AM, automatic Onyx status, lounge access, and a "free" companion flight (minus taxes/fees, of course!).

I'll grab my 1,000 AM from this and that should easily net me and my travel companion a free round-trip flight to Halifax this spring. From my in-the-middle-of-nowhere home base, that's worth about $800 or so. Great combo of benefits!

WoooOOOOooT!
How much was the spend obligation for you?

Are 2000 AM enough for regional long-haul flights?

I think I read a post that says flights by far are the best use of AM, just like over at aeroplan

YES

Go to the Travel tab / page on AirMiles Website
To find / take a look at the WHERE CAN I FLY Map / Calculator

https://www.airmiles.ca/arrow/WhereCanIFlyEn

Miles shown there reflect High & Low Season for Blue Card Holders
If you are Gold or Onyx, you have to be logged into see your related Discounts

NOTE - Availability on Flights matters
The fewer seats, the more miles needed
Just like paying cash... less availability = higher cost
This is a case where STATUS matters as well
Only so many seats per flight set aside for Blues
Gold has more access
Onyx, almost unlimited access
AMEX Reserve Holders, the absolute best access

Whoops. This is for dream AM... I've move to cash AM on most.

So it seems after redeeming cash AM and completing the offers, we should switch to dream miles before the AM posts.

It it wise to ensure I have 570 cash Air Miles at minimum to do the Rexall (190 AM), Rona (285 AM) and Metro (95 AM) offers? I don't want to allocate anymore to cash since I prefer dream miles, but I have a 2k bonus coming within the next few days.

Edit: Someone suggested Sobeys might have a redemption offer so that would require another 95 AM so 665.

I wish we could convert cash and dream miles. Sucks that you have to choose upfront.
