Airbnb vs. Wimdu vs. Roomorama, etc.

Thinking about fixing up one of my apartments and furnishing it for short-term rentals to tourists. If you've done the same thing via one of those apartment rentals sites, what has your experience been like. Which sites do you use, which site do you prefer, how do they pay you, how much do they take for their cut and are they honest about the percentages in their FAQs, what if you don't want to get paid in USD or pay fees in USD because you're in Canada - do these sites respond to that, or is it all USD only, etc. how does your insurance company react if they find out you're doing short-term rentals, horror stories, etc.

In slight relation, my condo board has recently had a meeting about this. We don't allow short term rentals.

It can and does cause a lot of disruption in owner occupied buildings. I would be fuming if I knew my neighbour was renting out through one of those services. I don't want strangers going in and out of my floor/building ....
As an example:

That wouldn't be an issue because it's my building. All the apartments are mine. The other tenants aren't going to complain about the occasional guest in one of the apartments.

My main concern is how would these sites pay me. I am boycotting paypal, so if that's how they pay you, I guess I can't do it.

Why not list on multiple sites? Airbnb, Booking.com, etc.
