Fellow Rfds, in order not to confuse would like to to keep the conversation simple. Xiaomi phones can be confusing. Heres a quick summary:

1) Will this phone work here? Yes. May or may not work with Freedom mobile.
2) Advantages: Amazing battery, huge screen, brand new efficient Qualcomm processor (SD632). You can play and use every app. However, if you're playing shooters at the highest quality, this is not the phone for you. Amazing price for what you get as i didnt see anything else come close. Slightly above average camera. New phone release = Xiaomi typically supports phones for at least 2-3 years so you will be good for a long time. It has enough space (32gb + expandable) and enough ram (3gb)
3) Disadvantages: Screen is 720p. Good enough for most. Not the best screen under direct sunlight. Camera is above average but don't expect it to be like a 1000$ Apple/Google phone. Most will be happy. 2.4ghz A/B/G wifi meaning no AC, no 5ghz so unless your wifi router only broadcasts in 5ghz, then you should be fine. Speeds will be good. No NFC but most people dont care.

For less than the price of most screen replacements, you're getting a huge screen, best in class battery, a newly released Qualcomm chip and a decent Camera.

The aliexpress store i have chosen may not be the cheapest but i bought from them in the past and got the phone within a respectable time. Time will range with Canada Post processing times so expect a range of 3 weeks to 3 months.

Constructive comments welcome. Don't forget 3% ebates brining the total closer to 162$.

P.S.: This phone is a variant other Redmi note 7 on another thread. The Note 7 costs about 50% more and comes with a better processor for gaming, more ram, more space, 5ghz AC wifi and a better camera.

SPECS:
Snapdragon 632
32gb storage + expandable
3g RAM
12MP+2MP Dual back camera with AI assistance.
6.29'' screen
4000mah huge battery.
Multi-sim + expandable card support.
Gorilla glass 5 screen protection (Like the Samsung S8)

This is an amazing phone to get for parents/grandparents who are finally willing to learn smart phones. Big enough for them to read clearly, Good battery life, a decent camera to play with and a very affordable price...

I am guessing this doesn't have wireless charging? I don't see it anywhere.

In case you are wondering it states that it supports expandable storage with TF cards. MicroSD cards are also compatible.

How much better is the camera on the $265 Redmi Note 7 4G / 64GB, versus the camera on this Redmi 7 3/32 GB?
Redmi Note 7 has 1080p screen, right?
I'm debating canceling my order for the $265 Redmi Note 7 4G / 64GB, but a good camera is important to me, as well as a nice bright screen.

Advice? Keep the $265 Redmi Note 7 4G / 64GB? It sounds to me like it's worth the $100ish difference.

Yes, technically it works with FM since it has B4 3G, and B4+B7 LTE.

But, for FM you need B66 and B13 LTE to have anything approaching a decent data experience. If you don't care about mobile data you're fine, otherwise, choose something else.

The Note 7 is a much better choice, unless one wants a phone that does nothing but the basics.

It's the first mid-range phone I tried where I don't miss a flagship at all.
I would agree with you if they slapped a Snapdragon 4xx chipset. But with a 632, im going to have to disagree as this phone does much more than the basics. The Note 7 is a better phone and is also 50% more. The iphone is a better phone and costs 5x more. For the average user, i doubt they will feel much difference. I would but my parents or significant other, probably not at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any of the Aliexpress stores accept Paypal.

Note 7 benefits for $100 more
-Slightly better processor
-4 / 64 GB storage
-higher resolution / brighter screen, better display panel - 720p is not great on a screen this big
-better camera (not sure how much better, maybe someone else can add details)
-Faster wifi

The biggest difference is the 720p screen. To be frank, it's not a good idea to get a 720p screen these days.

More and more of the web is designed for 1080, and many apps also have issues on smaller res screens.

It's usable, but going forward, it's best to aim for a 1080p panel in whatever phone you get. 1440p is pretty much in all flagships, and 1080p is pretty much every device not flagship.

For a similar price consider the LG G6, I've seen it available for less then $200.
